Little Ground
Your Seoul Retreat
I’ll be honest, when I first heard the name Little Ground, I wasn’t sure what to expect – it’s one of those quirky hotel names that either means something really clever or absolutely nothing at all. Turns out it’s somewhere in between, but in the best possible way. This little 3-star gem has that unpretentious charm that’s honestly getting harder to find these days. You know what struck me first? The lobby smells like actual coffee, not that weird synthetic hotel scent they pump through the vents. The check-in staff actually seemed to care about whether I found the place okay (I mean, with a name like “Little Ground,” you’d think it might be underground or something, but it’s not).
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to punch above their weight rating-wise. I’ve stayed in plenty of 4-star places that felt more generic than this spot. The rooms aren’t huge – hence the “little” part, I guess – but they’re thoughtfully designed with these clever built-in storage solutions that actually work. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and I’m someone who usually tosses and turns in hotel beds for the first hour. The bathrooms have this nice rainfall showerhead situation going on, which feels a bit fancy for a 3-star place. One small thing though – the walls aren’t the thickest, so if you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack some earplugs just in case you get neighbors who think hotel hallways are their personal phone booth.
The whole vibe here is just… relaxed, I guess? It’s not trying to be something it’s not. The common areas have this lived-in feeling – comfortable couches that don’t look like museum pieces, books that people have actually read scattered around, that sort of thing. I noticed a lot of repeat guests during my stay, which always tells you something. The staff remembers your coffee order by the third day, and there’s something really nice about that level of attention without it feeling forced or overly rehearsed. Honestly, for the price point, you’re getting way more personality and genuine hospitality than those big chain places that cost twice as much. If you’re looking for a place that feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed guest room than a sterile hotel box, Little Ground definitely delivers on that front.
