About this stay

Your Seoul Retreat

I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name Large house subway 5 minute, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But you know what? Sometimes the places with the most straightforward names turn out to be exactly what you need, and this 4-star spot really delivers on that promise.

The thing that struck me immediately is how the owners actually mean it when they say five minutes to the subway. I timed it (because I’m that kind of traveler), and it’s genuinely a quick walk – not one of those “five minutes if you’re an Olympic sprinter” situations you sometimes encounter. The house itself has this authentic residential feel that makes you forget you’re staying in what’s technically a hotel. I mean, it’s large enough to not feel cramped, but it maintains this homey atmosphere that’s honestly refreshing after staying in cookie-cutter chain places. The rooms have that lived-in comfort without being worn down, if that makes sense – like staying at a well-maintained relative’s place rather than a sterile accommodation.

What really won me over was the attention to practical details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The Wi-Fi doesn’t mysteriously cut out every few hours, there’s decent water pressure in the shower, and – this might sound minor but it’s huge – they have proper blackout capabilities in the bedrooms so you can actually sleep past sunrise. The 9.0 rating makes total sense once you’re there because while it’s not trying to be fancy or Instagram-perfect, everything just works the way it should. The neighborhood has that authentic feel where you’ll see locals going about their daily routines rather than just tourists, which I always appreciate. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no lengthy presentations about amenities or pushy upsells, just here’s your key and here’s what you need to know. I did notice it can get a bit lively in the evenings since it’s in a residential area where people actually live, but honestly, that street life energy is part of what makes it feel genuine rather than sanitized for visitors.

Early hotels booking in Seoul requires advance planning during peak tourist seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s legendary palaces, shopping districts, and Korean cultural attractions.

It's cheap. It's good to have many people. It's close to the subway. I got it for a day in a hurry and it was great. One bathroom was just a shower. That's a pity. Cleaning is clean and bedding is cozy

We were a family of 10 people & the house was really cosy & spacious for all of us. Host even decorated a Christmas tree in the living room :) There’s a steep slope towards the house. Abit of a climb. But we took airport trf to the house which really helps with the luggages. The house was clean & they provided full amenities. We cooked & did laundry/dryer. They even have many extras for us to use in the cupboard (towels, toilet papers, plastic bags). Do note their towels are small, so do bring big towels if are used to it. The host was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Even check on us if we are warm enough :) Despite the cold weather, we are really warm inside. Korea also have strict rubbish system so make sure to use the right plastic bags. The nearest subway is walkable about 10mins, to Myeondong abt 30mins. Overall, for the price we paid it was worth it 👍🏻 We had a really good time in Seoul 😊

It's a good size property and it's clean. There's a washer and dryer, so that's very convenient.
