I stumbled upon Kyoung Dong Hotel Myeongdong during one of those frantic last-minute booking sessions, and honestly? Sometimes the universe just gets it right. This 3-star place sits right in the heart of the action – I mean, you’re literally surrounded by the controlled chaos that makes Seoul so addictive. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Korean hotel vibe from the outside, but once you’re inside, there’s something genuinely welcoming about the whole setup.
What really struck me was how the staff seemed to actually care about getting things right. Check-in was smooth (they had my reservation ready even though I’d booked like six hours earlier), and the front desk guy gave me this little hand-drawn map showing the closest subway entrance – turns out it’s about a two-minute walk, which saved me so much wandering around with my luggage. The rooms are what you’d expect for the price range, but they’re clean and thoughtfully laid out. I had one of those compact Korean bathrooms where everything’s designed to fit just so, and the water pressure was actually decent, which… you know how hit-or-miss that can be in Seoul hotels.
The location though – that’s where this place really shines. You’re basically in the middle of Myeongdong’s shopping madness, which means you can grab late-night Korean fried chicken at like 11 PM without even thinking about it. I loved being able to duck back to the room between shopping sessions (because let’s be real, Myeongdong can be overwhelming), and then head back out for dinner. The street food scene right outside is incredible – there’s this hotteok stand about fifty meters away that I may have visited embarrassingly often. With an 8.1 rating, this place has clearly figured out that sweet spot between price and performance. It’s not trying to be fancy, but it gets the fundamentals right in a way that makes your Seoul experience smoother rather than more complicated. If you’re the type who wants to be in the thick of things but still have a reliable, comfortable base to crash at, this is exactly what you’re looking for.

I like this hotel. Cheap and convenient, we lived there for three night and anything we need we can take it ourselves. It's close to Myeongdong and Seoul Tower so it's pretty easy to go shopping or sight seeing.
Location is good, close to Seoul station and market.

The hotel greatly contributed to the exceptional experience in Seoul.
It is located in a quiet street, which is hidden from large tourist crowds and yet is rich in content. This was very useful to rest after long days exploring Seoul. Near the hotel, there are several restaurants open until late, a large store, a laundromat and other useful businesses. The entrance to the metro station is just a few minutes walk away, which connects this location well with the rest of the city. And nearby there are bus stations with bus lines that run to all the most important locations around the city.
On the way to the station, there is a 24-hour "C U Mart" where you can quickly top up your T Money card and buy basic necessities at any time of the day.
In short, I liked:
- Excellent location of the hotel, well connected, within walking distance of Meyeodong Street, Namdaemun Market and Namsan Tower.
- Affordable price on Booking
- The air conditioner in the room was rich in options and quickly conditioned the space
- The room we got was very quiet, with a very comfortable bed and sleeping in it was a real pleasure
- Although the hotel staff did not speak English well, they tried to answer every question and meet every request we had. Using the Papago application, we communicated without any problems
Owners were really nice, the location is very good and central and for the price, the room was great, even had windows you could open.
The location is great. The hotel is a little hidden from the main road, but I enjoyed my stay overall. The room was fairly spacious for just one person, and the bathroom was big. The staff were helpful and carried my bag up to my room for me upon check-in. The 12pm checkout time is also very handy. Overall, nice stay here!
