Imperial Palace Seoul Gangnam Overview
You know what struck me first about the Imperial Palace Seoul Gangnam? It’s one of those places that feels like it’s trying really hard to live up to its royal name – and honestly, it mostly succeeds. I mean, when you walk into that marble-heavy lobby with all the gold accents, you definitely get the “palace” vibe they’re going for, even if it feels a bit theatrical at times.
The thing is, this five-star spot sits right in the heart of Gangnam, which means you’re basically in the epicenter of everything that makes modern Seoul tick. I’m talking about being walking distance from COEX and all those massive department stores, plus you’ve got the subway practically at your doorstep. What I really appreciated though was how surprisingly quiet the rooms stay despite being surrounded by all that Gangnam chaos – the soundproofing actually works, which isn’t always a given in this city. The rooms themselves are spacious by Seoul standards (and I mean that as a real compliment), with these floor-to-ceiling windows that give you proper views of the district’s skyline. Sure, the décor leans a bit heavy on the traditional Korean elements mixed with European luxury vibes, but it works better than it sounds on paper.
Here’s what nobody tells you though – the service can be hit or miss depending on when you visit. During peak business travel seasons, the staff gets stretched pretty thin, and you might find yourself waiting longer than you’d expect for a place charging these rates. But when they’re on their game, they really are on their game. The concierge team actually knows their stuff about getting reservations at those impossible-to-book restaurants in the area, which is worth its weight in gold if you’re trying to experience Seoul’s food scene properly. The hotel restaurant is decent but overpriced (shocking, I know), so you’re better off exploring the incredible dining options literally everywhere around you. One thing that genuinely impressed me was their breakfast spread – it’s this massive buffet that somehow manages to nail both Korean and Western options without either feeling like an afterthought. And parking? Well, it’s expensive, but at least they have valet service, which in Gangnam’s traffic nightmare is basically a necessity rather than a luxury. With a 7.6 rating, it’s clearly not perfect, and you’ll probably notice some of the furnishings showing their age in certain areas, but for the location and the overall experience, it delivers on what most travelers actually need from a high-end Seoul stay.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Seoul at least two months ahead for major events like K-pop concerts and cultural festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular attractions.

Free WIFI, the room was amazing, I had a small kitchen with a clotheswasher and a steam closet for the clothing! It was fantastic. The whole property is beautiful, and the food at the restaurant is impressive. I have stayed at three different hotels over two weeks and this one was the best.
