Hotel President Overview
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked into Hotel President – the name sounds a bit formal and stuffy, you know? But this 4-star place really surprised me in the best way possible. There’s something refreshingly unpretentious about it that I actually appreciate more than those overly polished chain hotels that all feel identical. The lobby has this lived-in elegance, sort of like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place who has good taste but doesn’t show off about it.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to actually remember guests – not in that forced, corporate training way, but genuinely. The front desk guy (I think his name was Marco) knew I preferred a room away from the elevator by my second night, which honestly made my day. The rooms themselves are solid – nothing fancy, but everything works properly, the beds are actually comfortable (not too soft, not too firm), and you get decent water pressure in the shower, which is more than I can say for some supposedly fancier places I’ve stayed. I mean, the décor isn’t going to win any design awards, but it’s clean and functional with little touches that show someone cares – fresh flowers in the hallways, decent lighting that doesn’t make you look dead in the mirror.
The 8.1 rating makes perfect sense to me because this isn’t about luxury – it’s about getting the fundamentals right without any unnecessary drama. You know what I appreciated most? The place runs quietly and efficiently. No slamming doors at 2 AM, no elevator music that makes you want to cry, no overly eager housekeeping knocking at dawn. Check-in was smooth, the Wi-Fi actually worked throughout the building (shocking, I know), and when I had a question about local restaurants, they gave me real recommendations, not just the tourist traps that probably pay them commission. It’s the kind of place where business travelers and leisure guests mix easily because everyone’s just comfortable. If you’re looking for Instagram-worthy amenities or a rooftop pool, this probably isn’t your spot, but if you want a reliable, well-run hotel where you can actually relax and feel like a person rather than a room number, Hotel President delivers exactly that.
Early hotels booking in Seoul requires advance planning during peak tourist seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s legendary palaces, shopping districts, and Korean cultural attractions.
