Hotel Midcity Myeongdong Overview
Honestly, when I first walked into Hotel Midcity Myeongdong, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place – but you know what? Sometimes these smaller hotels surprise you in the best way. The lobby’s got this clean, modern vibe without trying too hard to be fancy, and the staff actually remembered my name by day two (which, let’s be real, doesn’t happen at those massive chain hotels). What really struck me was how quiet it stays despite being right in the heart of Myeongdong – I mean, you’re literally steps away from all the street food chaos and shopping madness, but somehow the rooms feel like a peaceful retreat from it all.
The thing about staying here is the location benefits you don’t realize until you’re actually walking around. You can stumble out the front door and grab those incredible hotteoks from the street vendors in about thirty seconds, or duck into one of the skincare shops when it starts raining (which, if you’ve been to Seoul, you know happens). I spent way too much money at the Olive Young that’s practically next door – dangerous for anyone with a skincare addiction. The rooms themselves are on the smaller side, sure, but they’re thoughtfully designed with enough storage that I didn’t feel like I was living out of a suitcase. The beds are actually comfortable too, not those rock-hard mattresses you sometimes get in this price range. And here’s something I appreciated – the shower has proper water pressure, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong.
What I really love about this spot is how it puts you right in the middle of everything without the tourist trap feeling. You’re close enough to Namdaemun Market that you can wander over for some serious bargain hunting, but you can also easily hop on the subway to explore other neighborhoods. The 8.8 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but it delivers really well on what matters most: clean rooms, friendly service, and a location that actually enhances your Seoul experience. I mean, I’ve stayed at fancier places that left me feeling more disconnected from the city. The staff here seems genuinely happy to help with recommendations too, not just the usual tourist spots but places where locals actually eat and hang out. If you’re someone who wants to feel the pulse of Seoul rather than just observe it from behind hotel glass, this place gets it right.

The stuff was so kind and willing to help us every time we needed something. Also the location of the hotel was ideal: in a walking distance from many attractions, malls and metro stations. Many worth visiting restaurants around the block.

Location – in a less crowded part of Myeongdong, but is nearby 3 subway lines. Clean, new and modern room with all the essential amenities. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Ice and cold water on every floor, and common amenities like microwave, washer and dryer (3000won each) and a small gym.
