Hongik Univ Hongdae Stay
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what struck me first about Hongik Univ Hongdae Stay? It’s right in the thick of everything without being one of those massive, impersonal hotels that dominates the skyline. I mean, this is a 3-star place that honestly punches way above its weight – and that perfect 10 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen, it’s actually earned.
The thing about staying near Hongik University is that you’re basically planted in the creative soul of Seoul. I’m talking about stumbling out your door and finding yourself surrounded by street art that changes every few weeks, indie coffee shops where the baristas actually remember your order, and those legendary Korean BBQ joints where locals queue up at midnight. The energy here is just different – it’s got this artistic, youthful vibe that you won’t find in the more buttoned-up districts. During the day, you’ll hear students chatting and the distant hum of creative studios, but honestly, the real magic happens after dark when the whole area transforms into this buzzing nightlife hub. The sound of live music drifts out from basement venues, and there’s always this excited chatter from people bar-hopping down the narrow alleys.
What I really appreciated about this place was how they seem to get that travelers want comfort without the stuffy hotel atmosphere. The rooms have this clean, modern feel – not trying too hard to be trendy, just genuinely functional and welcoming. I noticed they pay attention to the little things that matter when you’re actually living in a space for a few days: good lighting for reading, outlets where you actually need them, and blackout curtains that work (trust me on this one, especially if you’re planning to explore Hongdae’s famous nightlife scene). The staff genuinely seems happy to help too – not in that rehearsed hospitality way, but like they’re actually invested in making sure you have a good time. I had this one question about finding a specific vintage shop, and the front desk person didn’t just give directions, they drew me a little map with shortcuts only locals would know. You’re also perfectly positioned to walk to some of Seoul’s best independent galleries and that amazing Saturday market where you can find everything from handmade jewelry to vinyl records you didn’t know existed. The whole experience just felt authentic – like staying with friends who happen to have really good taste and know all the best spots in the neighborhood.
Best hotels in Seoul range from luxurious properties in the upscale Gangnam district to boutique hotels with stunning views of Namsan Tower and the Han River.

Guest Reviews
super beast 👍
