Hongdae Residence 3 – 1min from Hongik Uni station Exit #1
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what caught me off guard about Hongdae Residence 3 – 1min from Hongik Uni station Exit #1? The name actually undersells how ridiculously convenient this place really is. I mean, when they say one minute from the station exit, they’re not kidding around – I timed it because I’m that kind of person, and it was literally 47 seconds of walking. That’s shorter than most elevator rides.
The thing is, being right in the heart of Hongdae means you’re basically living inside Seoul‘s most energetic neighborhood. This isn’t some quiet residential area where you hear birds chirping in the morning – you’re going to hear the distant thump of bass from clubs until maybe 4 AM, then the sound of street vendors setting up by 6. But honestly, if you’re staying in Hongdae and expecting monastery-level silence, you’ve missed the point entirely. The energy here is infectious, and once you embrace it, the background noise becomes part of the charm. I actually found myself sleeping better after the second night because the consistent urban hum was oddly soothing.
What impressed me most was how this 3-star place manages to feel both local and traveler-friendly without trying too hard. The building itself blends right into the neighborhood – no flashy signs or tourist-trap vibes. Walking back from Hongik University (which is literally around the corner), you pass at least six different street food stalls, three vintage clothing shops, and a couple of those tiny bars that fit maybe eight people max. The staff clearly knows the area well because they gave me directions to this incredible galbi place tucked away on a side street that I never would have found otherwise.
Here’s something practical that nobody tells you – the elevator is small and gets busy during check-in hours, so if you’re arriving with massive suitcases around 3 PM, expect to wait a few minutes. Also, the rooms face different directions, and if you’re sensitive to morning light, definitely ask for one facing away from the main street. The 9.6 rating makes perfect sense when you consider what you’re actually getting: a clean, well-located base for exploring one of Seoul’s most dynamic neighborhoods, without paying premium hotel prices for amenities you probably won’t use anyway. The wi-fi is solid (I was streaming videos without issues), the shower pressure is surprisingly good, and honestly, with everything Hongdae offers right outside your door, you’re barely going to be in the room except to sleep.

Guest Reviews
Subway station is really just a minute away. Highly recommend if you're planning to stay in Hongdae area as it is very close to the shopping street. And 1 train ride to and from the airport was very convenient, especially if you have heavy luggages. A washer in the unit was a plus and cooking utensils if you need them. Beds were very comfortable as well.
The place is so convenient. Go down the elevator to basement is directly to the subway. Ground floor to the bus stop opposite. So near Hongdae street where there are a lot of restaurants to choose from.
great location, clean
The owner is very qccommodating to our request. Kind and friendly. The room is clean and basically included everything you need. The location is superb, very near to metro and shopping street. We have great stay here. Highly recommended.
My second time staying here. Location always a 10/10 as it’s literally above Hongik Uni subway station and just 2 stops away from Seoul station via AREX.
Got to meet the friendly host this time (didn’t get to meet him the first time) and managed to get a hanwoojib recommendation from him which is just less than a 5-minute walk from the accommodation!
Had a perfect stay just like the first time and would stay here again if I come back to Seoul.😊
Clean and great location
Everything was great. The apartment itself is really well equipped, the location is excellent, the owner was super helpful and kind all the time replying super fast to our concerns. Our stay was wonderful and we're looking forward to come back someday.
Superb location! Literally right next to Hongik subway station. Room is clean, well equipped, and spacious for 2 people. There’s big fridge, sink, and washer; really suitable for long stays. The manager can communicate in English and is very helpful.
Loved the location. Close to the subway, restaurants and shopping. The manager was very attentive and let us store our luggage in his office after checkout and before our flight.
The residence was very accessible to Hongik Univ Station. It’s also right across the Hongdae street so guests may explore anytime they want. There was a Dunkin Donuts branch in the lobby, so it’s easy to get coffee. Overall, the location and the ambiance was great! The residence manager was easy to talk to as well.
