Hongdae HK Stay
Your Seoul Retreat
I’ll be honest – when I first stumbled upon Hongdae HK Stay, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another mid-tier hotel. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that catch you off guard. This 4-star spot sits right in the heart of Seoul‘s most electric neighborhood, and I mean that literally – Hongdae never really sleeps, and neither will you if you’re not prepared for the energy that pulses through these streets.
What struck me immediately was how the hotel actually embraces its location instead of trying to insulate you from it. The lobby has this modern-meets-youthful vibe that makes perfect sense once you step outside and realize you’re surrounded by some of Seoul’s best indie music venues, late-night eateries, and those wonderfully chaotic street performances that Hongdae is famous for. The staff here gets it too – they’re young, speak solid English, and actually know which clubs are worth your time (and which ones are tourist traps). I remember the front desk guy telling me about this tiny basement bar three blocks away that I never would have found otherwise, and honestly, it ended up being one of my favorite nights in the city.
The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean, well-appointed, nothing revolutionary but everything works. What I appreciated was the soundproofing, because trust me, you’ll need it. Hongik University students know how to party, and the streets can get pretty lively until 3 AM on weekends. The hotel clearly thought this through. I also loved that they stock the minibar with some local snacks and drinks you won’t find in the international chain hotels – small touch, but it shows they pay attention. The Wi-Fi is rock solid (crucial if you’re trying to navigate Seoul’s subway system or translate menus), and the shower pressure is actually impressive by Seoul standards. That 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here a few nights and realize how seamlessly everything just… works. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it nails being the kind of spot where you can crash comfortably after exploring one of Asia’s coolest neighborhoods, then wake up ready to dive back into the controlled chaos that makes Hongdae so addictive.

Guest Reviews
The location was good and easy to get to tourist destinations from
The sofas were all very comfortable and the area is very spacious. The property is close to Hongdae Street (maybe like a 10-15 minute walk) so it is very convenient! There are also small restaurants and coffee shops and convenient stores right around the corner which we loved!
The ACs kept the rooms cool during the warmer nights in Seoul and the air purifier was a big help in the rooms they were in. Sam provided an abundance of slippers and body and hand towels for us to use. There were two new large bottles of water for us to drink and tea/coffee capsules (which we didn’t use, but it was nice to see that it was provided). Although we didn’t need all the dishes that were provided as we ate out our whole stay, there were more than enough for all of us and they were clean.
Sam told us the rules in advance and had it posted throughout the house as a reminder. We were told that they are very strict with recycling in Korea so we tried our best and there were extra bags provided for us to separate the recycling.
