Hongdae HK Stay
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
Walking into Hongdae HK Stay, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical Seoul hotel — it’s tucked away on a quiet side street in Yeonnam-dong, which honestly feels like discovering a hidden gem in one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods. The four-star property has this understated, modern vibe that’s refreshing after navigating the bustling streets of Hongdae. What struck me right away was how the staff genuinely seemed to care about making your stay comfortable, not just checking you in and disappearing.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You’re literally a five-minute walk from Hongik University Station, but the actual hotel sits in Yeonnam-dong — this trendy area that locals love but tourists often miss. I mean, you’ve got all the energy of Hongdae’s nightlife and shopping right there, but you can actually sleep at night because you’re just far enough away from the main party zone. The neighborhood itself is filled with these cute cafes, vintage shops, and some seriously good Korean BBQ places that don’t cater to tourists. Plus, having free private parking on-site is actually a big deal in Seoul — most places charge a fortune for it.
The Rooms
The rooms are clean, well-designed, and honestly bigger than I expected for Seoul standards. Everything feels thoughtfully planned out — from the heated floors (which you’ll appreciate in winter) to the surprisingly powerful shower. The beds are comfortable, and there’s enough storage space that you won’t be living out of your suitcase the entire time. What I really appreciated was the attention to small details, like having multiple charging outlets near the bed and blackout curtains that actually work.
Getting Around
Here’s where Hongdae HK Stay really shines — the location gives you the best of both worlds. You can walk to Hongdae’s famous nightlife scene in minutes, but you’re also perfectly positioned to explore other parts of Seoul. The subway connections are excellent, and I found myself easily getting to Myeongdong, Gangnam, or even out to the palaces in about 20-30 minutes. The area around Hongik University is always buzzing with energy, especially on weekends, but it’s the kind of authentic Seoul experience that makes you feel like you’re actually living in the city rather than just visiting it.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to this place — and why couples rate it so highly — is that perfect balance of being in the heart of things without feeling overwhelmed. You get that authentic Seoul neighborhood experience while still having all the upscale amenities you want from a four-star hotel. The staff’s local knowledge is invaluable too; they’ll point you toward the best late-night eats or help you navigate the subway system. It’s one of those places where you feel like you’ve discovered something special, not just booked another generic hotel room.
Best hotels in Seoul blend sleek high-rise towers, traditional hanok courtyards, and hearty Korean breakfasts before a day at the royal palaces.

Guest Reviews
The location was good and easy to get to tourist destinations from
The sofas were all very comfortable and the area is very spacious. The property is close to Hongdae Street (maybe like a 10-15 minute walk) so it is very convenient! There are also small restaurants and coffee shops and convenient stores right around the corner which we loved!
The ACs kept the rooms cool during the warmer nights in Seoul and the air purifier was a big help in the rooms they were in. Sam provided an abundance of slippers and body and hand towels for us to use. There were two new large bottles of water for us to drink and tea/coffee capsules (which we didn’t use, but it was nice to see that it was provided). Although we didn’t need all the dishes that were provided as we ate out our whole stay, there were more than enough for all of us and they were clean.
Sam told us the rules in advance and had it posted throughout the house as a reminder. We were told that they are very strict with recycling in Korea so we tried our best and there were extra bags provided for us to separate the recycling.
