Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Hongdae Guesthouse 1min from Hongik Uni station Exit #1, I thought it was just another place trying too hard to sell its location. But you know what? They’re not kidding about that one minute thing. I literally timed it because I’m that person, and it was 47 seconds from the subway exit to the front door. That’s actually incredible when you’re dragging luggage through Seoul after a long flight.

The thing about staying in Hongdae is that it’s… well, it’s loud. Really loud. Especially on weekends when the university crowd hits the streets and the area turns into this massive outdoor party. But here’s where this guesthouse gets it right – somehow the rooms stay pretty quiet despite being right in the thick of everything. I mean, you’ll still hear some street noise (it’s Seoul, after all), but nothing that kept me awake. The walls are thicker than you’d expect for a 3-star place. What really sold me though was stepping out in the morning and being surrounded by all these tiny coffee shops and street food vendors that the students actually go to – not the touristy ones. There’s this little place right around the corner that does these amazing hotteok pancakes, and honestly, discovering spots like that is half the reason I travel.

The guesthouse itself has this sort of minimalist Korean vibe without being sterile, if that makes sense. Clean lines, but warm somehow. The staff speaks solid English, which I appreciated since my Korean is… let’s just say I can order coffee and that’s about it. Check-in was smooth, and they actually gave me a little neighborhood map with their personal recommendations marked on it – stuff like which convenience store has the best selection and where to find the quietest spots along the Han River. That kind of local insight is gold. The room was smaller than what you’d get at a Western hotel, but that’s pretty standard here, and everything worked perfectly. Good wifi, hot water that actually stayed hot, and – this might sound weird – but the bed was just the right firmness. I’ve stayed at places where you either sink into quicksand or feel like you’re sleeping on concrete, but this was spot on. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there for a day or two. It’s not luxury, but it nails all the things that actually matter when you’re exploring a city: location, comfort, and that local connection that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the real Seoul, not just passing through it.

  Location is very very convenient and safe. Its close to most of the stores and street food stalls around Hongdae street. Its walking distance to pickup locations for tours. Literrally walking distance to the subway HongikUniv Stn Exit 1.
  The place itself is spacious, esp for a 4 adult guest. Highly recommended. Will probably book it again next time if its available on the next trip date 👍🏻

  the host was extremely nice during the whole stay. we had issues with our suitcases at the airport and when they got delivered to the guesthouse the host brought them to our bedroom cause we were outside at the moment. the host also bought savory and sweet snacks for us for our arrival 🥹 the room was clean and the beds were comfortable!

  The guesthouse location is very very convenient. The owner was very helpful. We requested to check-in early around 12pm, the owner gladly help us & let us checked-in early. Room was pretty decent. Another thing that I really love about this guesthouse the bidet. Will probably stay here again for my next trip to seoul.

  Location, next to exit 1 of Hongik Univ Station. Airport Limo from Incheon Airport stops right in front. Airport Limo going to Incheon is nearear to exit 2, which is still way better than taking the cheaper AREX All Stop train. To take the AREX train, it requires a super long walk underground. It will be alright if you do not have many luggages.
  
  Unit looks exactly the same as in pictures shown in booking.com. Unit is comfy and functionable. Host provided extra unit of heater as well.
  
  Bed is soft but comfy. Blanket keeps me warm. Very comfy.
  
  It is Hongdae, so food is easily accessible front and back. Same goes for shopping as it is just right across the road.
  
  Host is responsive and very helpful. He even helped me purchase a book before i arrived.
  
  Will definitely stay here again if i visit South Korea in the future.
