I stayed on the seventh floor and could hear the buzz of Myeongdong Street below, but honestly, it wasn’t annoying – more like this gentle urban hum that reminded me I was right in the action. The air conditioning works like a dream too, which you’ll appreciate if you’re visiting during Seoul’s swampy summer months.

What really sold me though was the staff – they’re not just going through the motions, they actually seem to know the neighborhood. The guy at the front desk gave me directions to this tiny jjajangmyeon place down an alley that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it ended up being one of my best meals. The location is honestly perfect if you want to explore on foot – Namdaemun Market is like a ten-minute walk, and you can hit Dongdaemun in about twenty minutes on the subway. Speaking of which, Myeongdong Station is practically next door, so getting around the city is dead simple. I mean, you’re paying a bit more to be right here instead of somewhere further out, but when you can roll out of bed and be shopping or eating within minutes, it’s worth it. The whole area gets pretty packed during peak shopping hours (especially weekends), but early mornings and late evenings have this completely different energy – quieter, more local. That 8.7 rating makes total sense to me; it’s not trying to be fancy or over the top, it’s just really solid at being exactly what it is.
