Gudo Residence Chungmuro
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what really struck me about Gudo Residence Chungmuro when I first walked in? It doesn’t try to be something it’s not – and honestly, that’s refreshing in a city where every hotel seems to be competing for the flashiest lobby. This 3-star spot sits right in the heart of Seoul‘s Chungmuro district, and I mean really *in* it – you’re surrounded by the kind of authentic neighborhood energy that most tourists never get to experience. The area buzzes with local office workers grabbing lunch at tiny restaurants and students rushing between the nearby universities, but it never feels overwhelming or touristy.
The residence itself has this understated, almost residential vibe that grows on you. I was expecting typical hotel sterility, but the rooms actually feel like well-designed studio apartments – clean lines, plenty of natural light, and those little touches that make you think someone who actually travels designed this place. The bathrooms are compact but thoughtfully laid out (and the water pressure is solid, which… let’s be real, that matters after a long day walking around the city). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, despite being in such a central location. You get that gentle city hum rather than the constant traffic noise you’d expect. The building itself feels secure and well-maintained – nothing fancy, but you can tell they take care of the place.
Here’s the thing about staying in Chungmuro that guidebooks don’t really capture – you’re perfectly positioned between the tourist zones and real Seoul life. Jung-gu district spreads out around you with all these hidden gems tucked into side streets, and you can walk to Myeongdong in about fifteen minutes when you want that shopping and street food chaos, then retreat back to this much calmer pocket. The subway connections are honestly perfect; Chungmuro Station is right there with multiple lines intersecting, so you’re never more than a few stops from anywhere you want to be. I found myself discovering these amazing little restaurants and cafes just by wandering the neighborhood in the evenings – the kind of places where you’re often the only foreigner, but the food is incredible and costs half what you’d pay in the more obvious tourist areas. With that 8.7 rating, Gudo Residence clearly knows what it’s doing, and after staying there, I totally get why. It’s not trying to wow you with marble lobbies or rooftop pools – it’s just really good at being a comfortable, well-located base for exploring Seoul without the premium price tag.
To book hotel in Seoul during the vibrant cherry blossom season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts K-culture enthusiasts and modern travelers from around the world.

Guest Reviews
Clean, new, exaclty like in the pictures.
Excellent facilities and really well maintained. Extremely clean and comfortable for a family. Apartment had everything we needed.
The beds were comfortable and the apartment was light and airy. We were on the 8th floor with a nice view across the rooftops. Nice modern apartment. Quite close to a pretty river and food market where you can get local food and souvenirs.. Loved the cosy slippers! The sheets and duvet were high quality. Loads of wardrobe space. If you like walking you can walk to the Palace and Museum quite easily. The immediate area has several commercial printers so quite busy during the day. Two nice restaurants just around the corner.
Central location, close to 2 metro stations. Excellent facilities. Very clean and the staff were very helpful.
The property was clean and well presented within easy reach of 3 subway stations. Several Eating places/restaurants (mainly Korean), plus a couple of food stores. Also a small exercise park.

We had a wonderful stay at this accommodation! The apartment was exceptionally clean, modern, and well-equipped. The host was very kind and supportive, making our arrival and departure processes effortless. Highly recommend for a comfortable and hassle-free experience!
Great location outside the hustle and bustle of Myeong-dong, but easy access via bus or 30min walk. Very clean and well appointed apartment. Shower enclosure rather than all in one space.
Nice location, comfortable rooms.
Great place on excellent location.
