You know what caught me off guard about GLAD Gangnam COEX Center? It’s one of those places that actually lives up to the hype of being in the heart of Korea’s business district without feeling stuffy or corporate. I mean, sure, you’re literally steps away from the COEX Mall and Convention Center – which honestly can be both a blessing and a curse depending on whether there’s a major trade show happening – but the hotel itself has this surprisingly relaxed vibe that I wasn’t expecting from a 4-star property in this area.

The location is pretty incredible if you think about it. You’re basically planted right in the middle of everything that makes Seoul tick from a business and entertainment perspective. The Bongeunsa Temple is just across the street (talk about contrast – ancient tranquility next to modern chaos), and you can walk to Samseong Station in about five minutes, which connects you to the rest of the city via Line 2. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to get that most guests are either here for COEX events or using this as a base to explore Gangnam, so they’re incredibly helpful with directions and timing advice. The rooms are solid – nothing groundbreaking, but they’re clean, reasonably spacious for Seoul standards, and the beds are actually comfortable, which honestly isn’t always a given in this price range.

Here’s the thing though – and this might sound weird – but the hotel has this efficient energy that somehow doesn’t feel rushed. Maybe it’s because so many guests are business travelers who know what they want, or maybe it’s just good management, but check-in was smooth, the elevators aren’t constantly packed, and even during busy conference periods, the lobby doesn’t turn into complete chaos. The 8.1 rating makes sense to me because it’s not trying to be flashy or luxurious – it’s just doing the fundamentals really well in a location that’s hard to beat. If you’re planning to spend serious time at COEX or you want to be in the thick of Gangnam’s business district without paying Gangnam luxury hotel prices, this place hits that sweet spot where convenience meets value.

  The subway exit is right in front of the hotel haha.. so convenient!
  The AC system is so sufficient. It was freezing during the days we visited Seoul. It was like minus 16°C but we didn't feel a bit of coldness inside the room, warm and cozy. Very nice. The carpet is also super clean.

  The hotel offers basic facilities and it’s nothing really fancy. It somehow feels like a business hotel with the most straightforward amenities and nothing excessive. However, I really enjoyed my stay there. The room was spacious enough and clean, the bed comfy, and what I really enjoy is that there are outdoor benches, chairs and tables outside the hotel. A 7-11 is only a minute walk away. It’s nice to just be able to get snacks and drinks, and have a place to chill that is not inside a hotel room. I didn’t include breakfast into my stay, but because of the proximity of shops (COEX shopping mall is about 5-10min walk away) I got my breakfast/lunch with ease. If it’s coffee you want that goes beyond the limited offer inside the room, the hotel seems to operate a small coffee shop on the ground floor. Samseong train station is about 30 meters away, which underground passage takes you to the COEX malls which offers plenty of restaurants and shopping opportunities.
  
  The lady who cleaned my room is super sweet. I always have my do-not-disturb sign on cause I don’t need my room cleaned every day, but she knocked on the door anyways (maybe because she thinks I got the sign on by accident) to make sure I have enough water in the fridge. I’m grateful, cause I totally needed my water refilled daily in my fridge. That was a good call on her behalf.
