Goodfellow seocho gangnam Seoul arts center
Your Seoul Retreat
I’ll be honest, when I first heard the name Goodfellow Seocho Gangnam Seoul Arts Center, I thought it might be one of those places trying too hard to sound sophisticated. But you know what? After spending a few nights there, I actually get it – this boutique spot really does nail that whole artsy, refined vibe without being pretentious about it.
The location is what initially drew me in. Being right in the Seocho district means you’re basically in the heart of Seoul‘s cultural scene, and I mean actually walkable to the Seoul Arts Center (hence the name, obviously). It’s not tourist-central like Myeongdong, which I personally love because you get to see how the city actually works. The neighborhood has this great mix of office workers grabbing coffee, art students heading to performances, and families out for weekend strolls. There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels integrated into real Seoul life rather than floating above it in some hotel bubble.
What really surprised me was the attention to detail inside – and I’m usually pretty skeptical about 4-star places that promise boutique experiences. The design actually follows through on the arts center theme, with rotating local artwork in the lobby and corridors that changes every few months. I stayed during a contemporary photography exhibition, and honestly, some of those pieces were better than what I’ve seen in actual galleries. The rooms have this minimalist Korean aesthetic that’s become popular lately, but done thoughtfully – clean lines, natural materials, and these gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows that flood everything with light. The beds are seriously comfortable too, which matters more than fancy art when you’re dealing with jet lag. One small thing that stuck with me: they have these custom-designed reading lights that are positioned perfectly for night reading, something you don’t usually see in chain hotels. The staff seems genuinely proud of the place, which always tells you something about management. Check-in was smooth, they remembered my name throughout the stay, and when I mentioned I was interested in contemporary Korean art, the concierge actually gave me a handwritten list of smaller galleries in the area that weren’t in any guidebook. That kind of local knowledge is gold when you’re trying to dig deeper than surface-level tourism. The only minor downside is that the elevators can be slow during peak hours – I mean, it’s not a huge building, so I usually just took the stairs anyway, but worth noting if mobility is a concern.

Excellent apartment, great location.
Easy to communicate with a host.
We loved everything in the apartment, it was spacious and very neat. Comfortable bed. Definitely 10/10 and we would be happy to book it again on out next trip to Seoul. One of the best areas in Seoul, close to metro station and airport bus stops. Lots of restaurants in the area.
Close to stations, very clean and modern place. All the necessary items were provided. Bed was comfortable as well. It was easy to communicate with the host. I would definitely stay at this place again next time
