Ehwa In Myeongdong
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked into Ehwa In Myeongdong – honestly, the name doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, and three stars can mean pretty much anything these days. But this little place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked right in the heart of Seoul‘s most famous shopping district, and I mean really in the thick of it – you can practically hear the street food sizzling from your window and smell those addictive hotteoks wafting up from the vendors below.
The thing about staying in Myeongdong is that it gets absolutely bonkers during the day (I’m talking shoulder-to-shoulder crowds of tourists with shopping bags), but here’s what most people don’t realize – early mornings and late evenings are magical. I’d step out around 7 AM and have these normally packed streets almost to myself, just me and the ajummas setting up their stalls. The hotel staff seemed to get this rhythm too; they’re not overly chatty when you’re clearly rushing out to beat the crowds, but they’re genuinely helpful when you stumble back in the evening looking overwhelmed by all the skincare products you just bought. The front desk guy – I think his name was Mr. Kim – actually gave me a heads up about which subway exit to use to avoid the worst of the weekend shopping madness.
Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the rooms are compact in that very Korean way where everything has its exact place. But honestly? The bed was surprisingly comfortable (firm, the way I actually prefer), the shower had decent water pressure, and – this matters more than you’d think – the walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation from the hallway. I stayed there during what must have been peak tourist season, and while the streets below were chaos, the hotel itself stayed pretty calm. The cleaning staff is thorough too; I left my room looking like a typhoon hit it one day (don’t judge, I was trying on about fifteen different face masks), and came back to find everything perfectly organized. My only real complaint? The elevator is tiny and moves slower than my grandmother, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for older buildings in this part of Seoul. For the price point and that location – literally a two-minute walk to Myeongdong Cathedral and surrounded by more food options than you could try in a month – it’s actually a solid choice if you want to be in the center of everything without paying Lotte Hotel prices.
To book a hotel in Seoul during major cultural festivals, travelers need early planning as this dynamic capital draws visitors eager to experience its cutting-edge technology and rich traditional heritage.

Guest Reviews
We were very happy with the service and the location. A 25-minute walk from the main station. There are also metro stations near. The rooms are small but cosy and the breakfast (boiled eggs, toast, cheese, jam, cereal, milk, juice and coffee) was more than adequate.
location, cleanliness, elevator, free breakfast, and friendly staff
Love that this hotel is between two subway stations so it's easy to get around Seoul and the walk home each day does not feel far. Also very convenient to Myeondong shopping area and a good range of places to eat. The beds are very comfortable and the room we had was spacious. We had two bathrooms which made it easier because they are quite small. I liked that there were full sized towels and an open clothes rack in the room for hanging. I also liked the water filter on each floor so we didn't have to buy so much bottled water.
The Dreamcast was simple but good
I liked how the location of the hotel was located right next to Myongdong street and was only a few minutes' walk away from the bus stops and station. The room & restroom was clean, and they provided restroom necessities. The staff was very helpful and nice and overall, I enjoyed our stay in this hotel.
The property is clean and very near to different shops and tourist destinations.
Accessible
met expectations. Was clean and beds were very comfortable. The room was clean and the hotel was in an excellent location. Would stay at this Hotel again.
LOCATION is great!!! Steps from busy Myeongdong Street but you don't hear it, bus station is less than a minute walk. STAFF is very nice, friendly, helpful and their English is great. Clean and neat.
Great location, close to metro station, bus stop to and from airport, and eating places and shops at Myeongdong.
