Dajayon Hanok Stay Overview
You know what really caught me off guard about Dajayon Hanok Stay? The moment you step through that traditional wooden gate, Seoul‘s urban chaos just… disappears. I mean, one second you’re navigating the bustling streets with their endless honking and construction sounds, and the next you’re in this incredibly peaceful courtyard where the loudest thing you’ll hear is maybe the gentle trickle of water from a small stone fountain.
The hanok itself is beautifully preserved – we’re talking original wooden beams, hanji paper windows, and those gorgeous curved roof lines that make you want to take about fifty photos. But here’s the thing that really impressed me: they’ve managed to blend modern comfort with traditional architecture without making it feel forced or touristy. The ondol floor heating system (that’s the traditional Korean underfloor heating, if you’re not familiar) keeps you perfectly cozy during those chilly Seoul nights, and honestly, sleeping on the heated floors with quality Korean bedding was way more comfortable than I expected. The owners clearly know what they’re doing – this place has a 9 out of 10 rating for good reason.
What I loved most was how the staff treated guests like family rather than tourists passing through. The ajumma who runs the place (and I say that with complete affection) actually sat down with us over tea to explain the history of the building and gave us insider tips about hidden local restaurants that definitely weren’t in any guidebook. She even helped us figure out the subway system, which – let’s be honest – can be pretty overwhelming when you first arrive. The attention to detail is incredible too: they provide traditional Korean slippers, there’s always hot barley tea available in the common area, and they’ve got this lovely little garden space where you can sit and decompress after a long day of sightseeing. Just be aware that walls in traditional hanoks can be a bit thin, so you might hear your neighbors moving around, but that’s pretty standard and actually adds to the authentic experience. If you’re looking to experience Seoul beyond the typical hotel chains and really understand Korean culture, this place gives you that genuine hanok living experience without sacrificing comfort.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Seoul through trusted local agencies that provide insider knowledge about the best districts for experiencing the city’s blend of tradition and innovation.

Extremely friendly owners. Easy instructions for check in. Allowed us to store our bags after check out. Amazing stay in the heart of Seoul in one of the trendiest areas for bar and food. Would 100% stay here again.

The owner and husband are friendly and helpful. If you'd like to experience staying in a traditional style home, this is the place for you. Decent place near the palace. The room is cosy with a futon style bed, air-conditioning is cold. I would recommend this place for someone who wants the Hanok experience within budget. Be aware of the local sockets, you might find it a little difficult to charge your devices if you do not have the Korean/international adapter.

I loved my stay at this traditional Hanok style accommodation. It was a homely atmosphere. The owners were very kind and helpful. They even allowed me to leave behind my heavy suitcase when I was going to another location in SK for a couple of days. The location is very optimal, Insadong can be reached in a few minutes by foot and the nearby metro station, bringing you to all over the city. Lots of restaurants nearby.
Despite being not too big, the room was comfortable enough for a single person with access to necessary provisions within the accommodation.Isadora from Germany (9/10)
The hosts were great, we were shown how everything including the lock at the front dort works in detail. It was very clean and maintained. It was near the famous Ikseon-dong Hanok village, which was about a 3 min walk away. Great to get the traditional feeling.

The owners are very nice and friendly. They even allowed us to leave our luggage after check-out, since we had a late flight.
