Blue gate 2023 Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Blue gate 2023 feels a bit like discovering a well-kept secret tucked away on the second floor of a building in Yongsan-gu. I’ll be honest — the entrance isn’t flashy, but that’s actually part of its charm. This three-star property has that cozy, almost residential vibe that makes you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than just another hotel. The staff greeted me with genuine warmth, and I could immediately sense why this place scores an impressive 8.5 with guests.

Location Perks

You know what really surprised me about staying here? How perfectly positioned it is in Seoul for actually experiencing the city like a local. Yongsan-gu isn’t the most touristy district, which means you get authentic Korean neighborhood life right outside your door. The area around Hyochangwon-ro is lined with local eateries and convenience stores — I mean, there’s a 24-hour convenience store literally around the corner that became my late-night snack salvation. Couples seem to particularly love this spot (they rate the location 8.3), and I can see why — it’s intimate without being isolated.

The Room Experience

My room was compact but thoughtfully designed, with everything you actually need and nothing you don’t. The bed was surprisingly comfortable for a three-star place, and the window offered a nice slice of neighborhood life below. What I appreciated most was how clean everything felt — you can tell they really care about maintenance here. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly (always a concern when you’re trying to navigate Seoul), and the air conditioning was a lifesaver during my summer visit.

Neighborhood Discoveries

Here’s something the booking sites don’t tell you — you’re within walking distance of some fantastic local spots that most tourists never find. There’s this incredible Korean BBQ place about three blocks away that doesn’t have English menus but serves some of the best galbi I’ve had in Seoul. The nearby Hyochang Park is perfect for morning walks, especially if you want to see locals doing their morning exercises. Getting to major attractions is straightforward too — the subway connections from this area are actually quite good once you figure out the system.

Why Guests Love It

After spending several nights here, I understand why Blue gate 2023 consistently gets such positive reviews. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — this isn’t a fancy hotel with a spa or elaborate amenities. Instead, it delivers exactly what many travelers actually want: a clean, comfortable base in a genuine Seoul neighborhood with friendly service and reasonable rates. The fact that recent guests rated the location 8.2 tells you everything you need to know — sometimes the best travel experiences happen when you’re staying somewhere that feels real rather than touristy.

Early hotels booking in Seoul requires advance planning during peak tourist seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s legendary palaces, shopping districts, and Korean cultural attractions.

It was super close to Seoul train station which helped so much when with navigating. The property owner is super friendly and was very accommodating to me and my party which was very much appreciated. The beds were so comfy shower nice and warm even tho it was very cold in Korea at the time. Super clean and I really enjoyed my stay.

  • Nabilah from Malaysia (7/10)

Very close to Seoul station but too many staircases. I stayed 1 night which was not bad but wouldn’t stay here for a longer period.

  • Anastasiia from Russia (9/10)

    Very convenient location, stylish interrior

  • Sung from South Korea (9/10)

My weekday outing with my girlfriend in Seoul was truly enjoyable.

The accommodation we chose was conveniently located just a 10-15 minute walk from Seoul Station, and it offered great value for the price.
After arriving at the place, we decided to buy some sparklers for a fun night on the terrace. The view of Seoul's skyline made for a perfect backdrop, and our photos turned out amazing thanks to the beautiful fireworks.

Although there were quite a few stairs to climb on the way to the accommodation, it was a small price to pay for celebrating our 100-day anniversary together. The effort was worth it, as we created some wonderful memories on this special day.

I definitely want to come back again! Feel free to make any adjustments if needed!

  • 권예솔 from South Korea (9/10)

Although there were quite a few stairs to navigate on the way to the accommodation, the effort was more than worth it for the wonderful experience that awaited us.

The view from the terrace was absolutely breathtaking. Especially in the evening, when we turned on the twinkling lights, the atmosphere was indescribably beautiful—perfect for a romantic night.

Inside, we were greeted by a cozy, plush blanket that made us feel right at home. Thanks to the efficient heating, the space was warm and inviting.

Overall, I highly recommend this accommodation for anyone looking for stunning views and a comfortable retreat. The slight inconvenience of the stairs is definitely worth it! Feel free to adjust any part of it to better match your style!

  • Petr from Czech Republic (9/10)

It's a magical place with a magical view that cannot be compared to an average hotel experience. It's small, yes, but has everything you need for 2 (recommend) to 4 (max) people. Great value for money too! The climb up the stairs of death (you'll know when you get here) was worth it!

  • Jahz from New Zealand (9/10)

Great location from Seoul Station, a Seven-11 convenient store and cafe nearby. The Free WiFi, air conditioning, washing machine, floor heating, and open roof top views of the neighbourhood, especially at night time, are extra bonuses. Just be mindful of the height and steps to climb. However, once you're inside, it's worth the experience.

  • Jarod from France (8/10)

    The terrasse.
The house looks really cute and confortables like a home.

  • Baoni from China (8/10)

It's close to the high-speed rail station, but it's tiring to climb the hill with your luggage.

  • Chloe from United States (9/10)

Close distance to Seoul station, private balcony, air conditioning, helpful communication from host.
