The pickup service they mention isn’t just marketing fluff either – I watched them coordinate airport runs for guests, and it’s genuinely helpful when you’re jet-lagged and don’t want to navigate Korean taxi apps. But here’s the thing about Hongdae: it gets loud. I’m talking college-town-on-a-Friday-night loud, especially on weekends. The windows do a decent job of blocking most of it, but light sleepers might want to pack earplugs.

What really surprised me was how thoughtfully everything’s set up despite the small scale – or maybe because of it. The owner clearly knows that with only three rooms, every detail matters more. The Wi-Fi actually works (shocking, I know), and there’s this little coffee station that’s stocked better than some hotel chains I’ve stayed at. You’re right in the heart of everything that makes Hongdae special – those tiny basement bars, the street food vendors who know exactly how much gochujang you can handle, and honestly some of the best people-watching in Seoul. Walk five minutes in any direction and you’ll hit something interesting, whether it’s vintage shops, late-night Korean BBQ, or those karaoke places that look sketchy but are actually a blast. The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be a luxury palace, but what it does, it does really well. Plus, and this might sound small but trust me on this, having a place that feels more like staying at a friend’s apartment than a hotel makes Seoul feel way less overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time in the city.

  The host was super friendly and the apartment had everything we could possibly need; to be honest, we were struck with how thoughtful the interior and facilities were!! The beds were very comfortable (although we do recommend earplugs for the night if you are a light sleeper) and it was close to nice coffee shops and bakeries. All in all, can’t recommend this enough!

  The accommodation was in a great locations with many cafés, mini markets and restaurants nearby. The bus stop was right in front of the door. The bed rooms were spacious and had all necessary amenities. As for the remaining rooms, we had everything we needed incl. washing machine, dryer, hair dryer, vacuum cleaner, microwave, TV, wifi and much more. We also received a bottle of wine and some vouchers for the café nearby as a welcome gift which was very thoughtful.
  There was also a booklet with all the necessary instructions about the accommodation which was very helpul.
  We very much enjoyed our stay at Mango House and totally recommended it.
