ZIP Hotel Overview
Look, I’ll be straight with you about the ZIP Hotel – it’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not, and honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what you need. When I first walked into the lobby, my expectations were pretty modest given the 3-star rating, but you know what struck me? The place actually felt clean and purposeful, like someone cared enough to keep things running smoothly without all the fancy bells and whistles.
The rooms are, well, they’re perfectly fine. I mean, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or those ridiculously fluffy robes, but the bed was comfortable enough that I slept through the night without any complaints. The shower had decent water pressure – and trust me, after staying in places where it feels like you’re being misted by a houseplant, that matters more than you’d think. What I appreciated was that everything worked as it should: the AC kicked on when I needed it, the WiFi didn’t cut out every five minutes, and the TV remote wasn’t held together with tape (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case). The room wasn’t huge, but it had this efficient layout that made good use of the space – kind of like a well-designed studio apartment where everything has its place.
Now, I won’t sugarcoat it – with a 6.4 rating, you’re not walking into perfection here. The hallway carpets have clearly seen better days, and the continental breakfast is pretty basic stuff (think standard cereal dispensers and coffee that gets the job done but won’t win any awards). But here’s the thing that surprised me: the staff actually seemed to give a damn. The front desk person remembered my name after the first night, and when I mentioned the lamp in my room was flickering, they had someone fix it within an hour. That kind of attention to the small stuff goes a long way, especially when you’re traveling for business and just need things to work without drama. The checkout process was quick and painless, and they didn’t try to hit me with any surprise fees – which, let’s be honest, feels like a minor miracle these days. If you’re looking for Instagram-worthy luxury, keep scrolling. But if you want a solid, no-nonsense place to sleep that won’t drain your wallet or give you any unpleasant surprises, ZIP Hotel does the job quite well.
