Warm nest retreat Overview

First Impressions

Tucked away on a quiet side street in Jongno-gu, Warm nest retreat feels like stumbling upon Seoul’s best-kept secret. I mean, you’re literally a stone’s throw from Changdeokgung Palace — one of the city’s most stunning UNESCO sites — but the moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s honestly hard to find in busy Seoul. The name isn’t just marketing fluff either; this three-star guesthouse genuinely feels like someone’s carefully curated home rather than your typical tourist accommodation.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Here’s what I love about this location — you’re in the heart of traditional Seoul without the tourist circus that usually comes with it. Bukchon Hanok Village is just up the hill (maybe a 10-minute walk), and you know what? You’ll actually want to make that walk because the narrow alleys leading there are filled with tiny cafes and artisan shops that most visitors never discover. The couples who stay here consistently rave about the area, and I get it — there’s something romantic about wandering these historic streets, especially in the evening when the palace walls are softly lit.

Your Room and Relaxation

The room itself strikes that perfect balance between Korean minimalism and genuine comfort. Nothing fancy, but everything you need is there, and honestly, the beds are surprisingly good for a mid-range place. What really sets this guesthouse apart though is the hot spring bath — and I’m not talking about some tiny hotel tub. There’s an actual hot tub that uses natural spring water, which feels almost surreal when you’re soaking after a long day exploring the palaces. The water temperature is just right, and there’s something deeply satisfying about this traditional Korean bathing experience right in your accommodation.

Getting Around and Practical Stuff

Anguk Station is about a 7-minute walk away, which puts you on Line 3 — perfect for getting to Myeongdong, Hongdae, or pretty much anywhere else you want to explore. What’s clever about staying here is that you’re close enough to walk to major sites like Gyeongbokgung Palace or Insadong’s tea houses, but far enough from the main drags that you’re not dealing with crowds every time you step outside. The staff speaks decent English and they’re genuinely helpful with directions — not just the usual tourist spots, but actual local recommendations that make a difference.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t going to blow you away with amenities or designer everything, but that’s sort of the point. Recent guests consistently rate the location incredibly highly, and after spending time here, I understand why. You’re experiencing Seoul the way locals actually live — in quiet residential streets where neighbors still chat over garden walls, where the corner convenience store owner remembers your face after two days. The hot spring bath becomes this lovely evening ritual, and honestly, there’s something special about falling asleep in such a peaceful pocket of one of Asia’s busiest cities. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something authentic rather than just booked another hotel room.

  • Asyraf from Malaysia (9/10)

Everything is perfect. Quite neighborhood, all facilities top notch. During winter, the heater only felt at living room, room a bit cold but doesnt affect our stay at all. Location wise a bit far from anguk station about 10mim walk but a lot of aesthetic cafe, restaurant, cool stores and places around the area.

The hot tub was great but note it takes around 40-50 minutes to fill up! Awesome projector.

This was exactly as it appeared in the pictures – beautiful interior, with the exposed wooden beams and lovely sliding doors, as well as the modern bathrooms etc, and the lovely courtyard outside. Getting there was easy – we were sent the entrance code and detailed instructions on how to get there on the day, which were really helpful. Good A/C, good wifi, there was a projector and sound system so we could watch a film on the big screen. Really quiet area at night, with lots of restaurants. Lovely bathtub, and bathsalts provided. I enjoyed having the tea they provided out in the courtyard with breakfast in the morning.

  • Sharon from Singapore (8/10)

Wonderful experience to stay in historic hanok with modern comforts

  • Alex from Australia (10/10)

i really loved the location basically in the heart of a really popular area, cafes, shops, restaurants and other Hanoks to see. A short walk to many palaces and the metro was just down the road.

The hanok itself was really nice, it still has a very traditional feel, with a really tasteful modern touch.
