Top Hotel & Residence
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what caught me off guard about Top Hotel & Residence? The name sounds pretty generic – I’ll be honest, I almost walked past it thinking it was just another forgettable mid-range place. But after spending a few nights there, I actually get why they went with something so straightforward. Sometimes a hotel doesn’t need a fancy name when it just does the basics really, really well.
The whole “residence” part of the name makes sense once you’re inside – it genuinely feels more like staying in a well-appointed apartment building than a traditional hotel. The lobby has this lived-in quality that’s refreshing after dealing with all those sterile chain properties. I mean, the furniture actually looks comfortable instead of just photogenic, and there’s usually someone at the front desk who seems to genuinely care about whether you found the place okay. Check-in was surprisingly smooth both times I stayed there, though I did notice they can get a bit overwhelmed during what seems to be their busy period in the evenings.
What really won me over was the attention to details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The rooms have proper blackout curtains (thank god), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine taking off. The beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you wrestled with a marshmallow all night, and honestly, the shower pressure is better than what I have at home. I also appreciated that they don’t go overboard with tiny bottles of products you’ll never use – just good quality basics. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building, which shouldn’t be revolutionary but somehow still is at a lot of places. One small thing that impressed me was how quiet it stays at night, even when there are clearly other guests around. You can tell they’ve thought about soundproofing, or maybe they just attract the kind of travelers who aren’t looking to party until 3 AM.
For a 3-star place, they’re definitely punching above their weight – that 8.5 rating isn’t just people being generous. The staff seems to stick around longer than most hotels, so you start recognizing faces if you’re there for more than a couple days. They know the area well enough to give you actual recommendations instead of just pointing you toward the nearest tourist trap. Sure, you won’t find a spa or a rooftop bar here, but if you’re looking for a place that feels like a temporary home base rather than just somewhere to crash, this hits the sweet spot. It’s the kind of place I’d book again without hesitation, especially since the value for money is honestly pretty hard to beat.

Guest Reviews
Everything was find the room, the location near by a lot of coffees, shops & restaurants. Also near by a lot of public transport such as the bus & the train. There are also a lot of convenience stores & ATMs near by.
The owner & the staff are very friendly. The owner give goods advice & recommend some good place to go. He also help us at our arrival with the taxi driver. The taxi driver wanted to charge us 150 000 krw where we should have been charge 80 000 krw. Hopefully the owner was here.
very clean and excellent location
Good location and the rooms are not too small as many comments said. You can storage your checked bags under the main table and the hand bags in the closet.
The staff were excellent. Sean was very friendly and welcoming. Both he and Sharon spoke English well and were so responsive to my queries. I really appreciate all the info and help they have given me. I would go back to this hotel just because of their exceptional customer service. The best I've experienced in my first time in South Korea. Though hotel has basic amenities, they did provide microwave on every floor and free water bottles. They also included free laundry facilities in the room which would be useful for me if my stay was longer. Great location too, short walking distance to the nearest subway and Insadong shopping.
Its location.
Great location, it’s close just a drop away from insandong and hanok village. There’s a plethora of food places, you will not go hungry staying here. Staff were really friendly and helpful too. Thank you to the staff :)
We love the fact it is so close to the Hanok village with plenty of eateries around. You have to try the salted breads and the cafes around the area. The property itself is great with a washing machine. The shower pressure was one of the best we have ever had. The staffs were all very helpful and friendly. It is also not far from the metro.
The position was super central in the nightlife area, however in a small street allowing it to be acceptably silent.
Washing machine available for use.
Staff was very nice and always helping.
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, good amenities. Excellent value
Central location next to markets, shops, convenient stores, cafes and restaurants. Close to the train station and easy to get to. Room was clean, with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided. Additional daily amenities like towels, bottled water, and toilet paper can be self-collected from the lobby. Room also includes a TV, washing machine, and kitchenette with stove. Staff can communicate in English and are professional, friendly and very helpful. QR codes printed in the room that direct to instructional videos on how to use the air conditioning, washing machine, etc. Room is small but closet is provided to store items. I would stay here again as it had everything I needed.
