Sotetsu Hotels The Splaisir Seoul Myeongdong
Your Seoul Retreat
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Sotetsu Hotels The Splaisir Seoul Myeongdong, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a Japanese hotel chain setting up shop in the heart of Seoul. But you know what? Sometimes these cross-cultural hospitality experiments really work, and this place is actually a perfect example of that.
The thing that struck me right away was how they’ve managed to blend that distinctly Japanese attention to detail with the energy of Myeongdong – and I mean, you’re literally in the thick of it all here. Step outside and you’re immediately surrounded by that wonderful chaos of street food vendors, cosmetics shops, and the constant buzz of people hunting for everything from Korean skincare to late-night fried chicken. What I really appreciated though was coming back to the hotel after hours of wandering those packed streets… there’s this immediate sense of calm when you walk through the lobby doors. It’s not stuffy or overly formal, just genuinely peaceful in a way that feels intentional.
The rooms themselves remind me why Japanese hospitality has such a solid reputation – everything’s compact but incredibly well-thought-out. I mean, they’ve somehow managed to make a relatively small space feel efficient rather than cramped, which honestly is no small feat in a city where real estate comes at such a premium. The beds are properly comfortable (not those rock-hard things you sometimes get), and the bathrooms… well, let’s just say they clearly understand that after a long day of exploring, you want a shower that actually works properly with decent water pressure. The soundproofing is pretty impressive too – considering you’re in one of Seoul’s busiest districts, nights are surprisingly quiet. I actually slept better than I expected, which says something since I’m usually pretty sensitive to city noise. What really won me over was the breakfast situation – it’s this interesting Korean-Japanese fusion that makes total sense when you think about it, but feels fresh when you’re actually eating it. Plus, the staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you know what’s worth seeing in the neighborhood, and their recommendations tend to be spot-on rather than the usual tourist traps.
Seoul hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in South Korea’s bustling capital, known for its innovative technology, K-pop culture, and historical palaces.

Guest Reviews
We took the airport bus to this hotel, which was very convenient. The location is great, with the Myong Dong shopping center just around the corner. Breakfast was excellent, options might not varies but all were delicious. We particularly liked trying different brands of cup noodles, which helped us decide what to buy back home. lol. The room size was average but nice, clean, and quiet. The staff were helpful, and check-in and check-out were easy with the self-service machines, so there were no long queues at the counter.
Like the spacious room and breakfast spread. Love ramen cup noodles theme at buffet. Hot water coming out from shower.
The hotel is in a really good location and offers baggage lockers free of charge which was really useful.
It’s in the center on Myeongdong. Definitely book here.
Location very convenient to access to the surrounding shops.
