There’s a 24-hour convenience store right next door (the kind where you can grab decent coffee at 6 AM or emergency ramen at midnight), and the subway connection to Mongchontoseong Station is maybe a seven-minute walk – close enough to be convenient but far enough that you’re not dealing with subway noise. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel where you’ll find little Korean BBQ joints tucked between office buildings, and I stumbled across this incredible bakery two blocks over that locals were lining up at every morning. The hotel’s 8.4 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it nails the basics and throws in enough character that you actually want to come back at the end of the day. Plus, and this might sound small, but they have really good WiFi throughout the building, which saved me from having to work in coffee shops when I needed to get things done.
