Seoul Hotel ShinShin Myeongdong
Your Seoul Retreat
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Seoul Hotel ShinShin Myeongdong, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in one of the busiest shopping districts in the world. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots end up being exactly what you need. The lobby’s pretty compact (Korean hotel style, if you’ve been here before), but the staff actually remembered my name by day two, which honestly doesn’t happen at those massive chain places down the street.
What really won me over was the location – and I mean the specific location, not just “oh, it’s in Myeongdong.” You’re literally a two-minute walk from the main pedestrian street where all the cosmetics shops and street food vendors set up, but tucked just far enough back that you’re not dealing with the chaos when you’re trying to sleep. I could hear a bit of the evening buzz from the night market, but it died down by 11 PM most nights. The thing about staying right in Seoul‘s shopping heart is that you can duck back to drop off purchases (trust me, you’ll have bags) or grab a quick shower between exploring sessions. There’s this little 24-hour convenience store literally next door – saved my life when I needed phone chargers and late-night snacks.
The rooms are clean and functional, though definitely on the smaller side. I mean, this is Seoul real estate we’re talking about, so you’re not getting a sprawling suite for these prices. But the bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showerheads that actually worked well. My room faced a side street, so mornings were pretty quiet until around 8 AM when the delivery trucks started making rounds to the shops below. The heating system worked great during my winter visit – important detail when it’s freezing outside and you’re walking around all day. Check-in was smooth, and they stored my luggage without any fuss when I arrived early. For a 3-star place pulling an 8 rating, it makes sense – they’re not trying to be fancy, just reliable and well-positioned. If you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the city anyway and just need a solid home base in the thick of things, this place delivers exactly that.

Guest Reviews
Great location. Lovely and helpful staff. Clean and cozy rooms.
Lovely staff. Friendly and helpful. Great location. Close to bus stops & a short walk to the subway. Surrounded by really great restaurants too.
Location is excellent. Just 10 mins walk to Myeongdong market and there is a bus stop nearby for Airport Transfer Bus.
There is no breakfast option but they provided microwave oven in the kitchen/lounge in the basement.
Everything good
Clean and peaceful place. Friendly staff.
I love the location and how value for money the hotel was. The staffs were all courteous as well.
Security and cleanness
Very clean , bed size was really large ! Your room card can open the entrance door so you can come and go as much as you want. The location is great and easy to find !
This was a friendly hotel and the most helpful was a young girl on her first day in the job - congratulations and I'm sure you will do well.
the rooms were very clean and comfortable. the housekeeping ladies were very friendly and cleaned our room very thoroughly every day. i loved that the room had individual AC controls, and multiple light options. the AC system was very strong as well, a must during the korean summer. the room is kind of tight, but is manageable.
the staff at the front desk were very friendly as well, and it is staffed 24 hours. you can leave your bag if you check in too early or check out but have a later flight.
the location is great! 10min walk to city hall station, a lot of eateries around (open till late as well), many convenience stores in the vicinity as well. there were 3 seperate convenience stores within a 10min walk. the hotel also has a little loading area so any taxi or rideshare you call can park and wait.
in the basement, there is a large lounge area you can sit and chat or even eat a meal at. the lounge features restrooms and a printing station (although i wasn't able to get it to print)
