Seochon Orak Stay Overview
You know what surprised me most about Seochon Orak Stay? It’s tucked away in one of those winding alleys in Seoul‘s Seochon neighborhood where you’d never expect to find such a thoughtfully designed place. I mean, this area is all traditional hanoks and tiny galleries, so when I first walked up to this 3-star spot, I wasn’t expecting much — but honestly, it completely changed my perspective on what a mid-range stay can be.
The thing about Seochon is that it’s got this incredible energy during the day with all the cafes and art spaces, but it actually gets pretty quiet at night, which is perfect if you’re trying to get decent sleep. The staff here really gets that balance — they know you probably spent your day wandering through Gyeongbokgung Palace (it’s literally a 10-minute walk) or hunting down that famous hotteok stand on Jahamun-ro, so they’ve created this space that feels like a proper retreat. The rooms have this clean, almost minimalist vibe, but not in that sterile way some places do it. There are these small touches — maybe it’s the way the lighting works, or how they’ve arranged the furniture — that make it feel more like staying at a design-conscious friend’s place than a hotel.
What really sold me though was how the whole place just works practically. Check-in was smooth, no weird hidden fees, and the 9.4 rating starts making sense when you realize how much attention they pay to the details most places mess up. The water pressure is actually good (trust me, this matters more than you think), the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and — this might sound small but it’s huge — they have proper blackout curtains. I’ve stayed at supposedly fancier places in Gangnam that couldn’t get these basics right. Plus, being in Seochon means you’re walking distance from both the palace area and Hongdae if you want nightlife, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of staying right in the middle of either scene. It’s sort of the perfect compromise for people who want to experience Seoul’s traditional side without sacrificing comfort or convenience.

The area was very clean and in a great location as it was near a mountain that overlooked the city and a market that sold a variety of food and products. The property was very clean and spacious.

This was a great place in a fantastic part of Seoul. It was easy to find and so close to awesome bars, eateries, convenience stores and a short walk to Gyeongbokgung Palace and train station. The host was fabulous, easy to communicate with and replied straight away. Very helpful ☺️ Thank you for the water too❤️ The also added convenience of a washer and dryer when staying for longer than a week. I would highly recommend staying at Seochon Orak Stay!

When we arrived the owner was very polite and helpful, she showed us around the apartment and how to use the appliances, she was contactable 24/7 and lived close by if we needed anything. The apartment was spacious and the rooms were clean and comfortable. It is located in a great location only a 5 min walk from the train and near to the palace.

The location was great. It was very easy to get to touristy area via local bus. The subway was accessible via local bus to the station or a short walk. The local mountain trailhead is less than 10 minutes walk from the house.

Clean and comfortable apartment in a great area of the city. All attractions at walking distance or easily accessible by public transport.
The apartment had all amenities and going on a city trip with 2 children, we really appreciated having 2 bedrooms + laundry machineПавел from Russia (10/10)
I liked everything, the hostess thought though everything to the smallest detail. There is everything for a comfortable stay: 2 separate bedrooms with comfortable beds and pillows and makeup area (washing hair dryer, hair straightener, etc); a separate guest room with a kitchen area, a washing mashine. In the bathroom are different towels, shapoos, foam cleanser, etc. Clean and cozy. The hostess is very friendly. Convention location, quiet aesthetic area. There is bus, you can get there from (to) the metro or walk 15-20 minutes. We traveled with our 16 year old daughter, we recommend

The woman was very nice. But the electricity is not properly wired in the lightbulbs. They keep glowing at night, it stops per lightbulb when you screw the bulb loose from frame. Even though the light switch is off. The toilet was leaking and made the house smell. It took me a while before I realised it was coming from the toilet. When you stay here know that you’re sleeping above a game room which makes very, very loud noise at night. The loud music from the game room goes on day and night. Know that when you book! It was at least nice to be close at Inwangsan and other visiting sites and places around the Jongno area, such as the palaces.
