Naksan Balcony Overview

First Impressions

When I first stumbled upon Naksan Balcony, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place tucked away in Jongno-gu. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries come from keeping your expectations in check. The moment I walked in, there was this immediate sense that someone actually cared about this place — it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Here’s the thing about staying in Seoul — location can make or break your trip, and this spot absolutely nails it. You’re right in the heart of Jongno-gu, which means you can actually walk to places like Insadong and Myeongdong without dealing with the subway every single time. I mean, don’t get me wrong, Seoul’s metro is fantastic, but there’s something nice about just stepping out and being in the thick of things. The area has this perfect mix of traditional Korean vibes and modern convenience that you don’t always find.

What Really Matters

The parking situation alone is worth mentioning — and I’m not just saying that because it’s free (though that definitely doesn’t hurt). If you’ve ever tried to park in central Seoul, you’ll understand why this is actually a big deal. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re navigating a new city. My room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I actually needed rather than a bunch of stuff I’d never use.

The Real Experience

What struck me most was how the place feels more like staying at a well-run guesthouse than a typical hotel — and I mean that in the best possible way. There’s this personal touch that you just don’t get at the big chain places. The balcony views (which, let’s be honest, is probably why they named it what they did) actually give you a nice perspective on the neighborhood below. It’s not going to be your Instagram moment, but it’s pleasant and real.

Why It Works

Look, this isn’t the fanciest place you’ll ever stay, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The value here is incredible — you’re getting a solid, comfortable base in one of Seoul’s best neighborhoods without paying premium prices. Couples seem to really get this place (apparently they rate the location super highly), and I can see why. It’s the kind of spot where you can focus on exploring the city instead of worrying about whether your hotel is living up to some impossible standard. Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that just let you be a traveler rather than trying to impress you every minute.

Reviews of Naksan Balcony

This is a great value little stay just out of the main centre. Everything is in place in the apartment and the views are wonderful. There's plenty to explore in the neighbourhood, with small shops, local restaurants and food markets close by, and it's easy to get to the main attractions. The hosts were exceptional – super responsive and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Sara from Belgium (10/10)

The view, the proximity to everything, the ease to get there, the ammenities, EVERYTHING!

  • Shruti from India (10/10)

The property is located on top of a hill in a very local area, making you feel like you are living in your very own k-drama. The flat itself is very cute and comfortable (and warm on cold nights!) and the balcony has the most stunning view of Seoul. The owners are very nice and helpful and have thought of everything one might need in the apartment. We loved our stay at Naksan Balcony and can’t wait to be back here again!

Perfect stay. Lovely roof tarace and view. Closeness to the Seoul City Wall.

  • Roberto from Ireland (10/10)

The location was amazing. It is next to Naksan with beautiful views of the city and the wall (especially at night time).

What I loved the most is the location. The neighbourhood is very traditional so totally recommended. It is located on a hill so expect some hills 😉 10 mins walking down to the metro and bus stations. Nevertheless, bus passes by very frequently.

  • Tom from Belgium (9/10)

The neighbourhood has such a wonderful charm and, while hilly, the effort of getting there is absolutely worth it for this amazing property and the view from the private terrace and shared roof terrace. There is a frequent local bus from the end of the street which will take you to Dongmyo subway station. There are, however, many opportunities to eat and drink in the local area. The apartment is clean and spacious and communication from the hosts was clear and friendly. If possible, I would stay here again when I am next in Seoul.

This was the first time i have ever rented an apartment, and it met all my expectations. The owner are really nice. The location as far as i am concerned was expectational and the view from the roof was fab. The best way to get to the location when you arrive is via taxi if you have luggage. It is on top of a hill which is why the view is great but their is a bus service that runs from the top to the bottom running about every 6 minutes. I enjoyed it so much i rebooked for feb for another 6 weeks

Amazing apartment with incredible views of Seoul in atmospheric neighbourhood that is well worth exploring. Hosts were super friendly and communicative which made our stay even more special. The local bus number 3 is a convenient two minutes walk to connect to with all the public transport services and the hustle and bustle of the city.

Hidden in a local neighborhood, offers really different vibes from the modern city part of Seoul. We got to experience the local life by staying here 🙂 The owners are super nice and helpful – would definitely come back for their 2 pax studio or the bigger flat upstairs. We were also lucky enough to bump into some TV drama shooting one night and the owner said the neighborhood is actually a popular spot for shooting.

This modern apartment is located in the real Seoul, not the concrete and glass ubiquitous hotel sector. Every evening we ate genuine Korean food cooked at the traditional street market at the bottom of the hill, sitting with friendly locals – not another tourist in sight. Across the main road was the famous Dongdaemun market, and we walked to many of the city's top attractions from here. The "hill" is an important part of this area's character. I am 60 years old and had no problem – and there's always the bus to the top. Fans of K-drama will love the roof-top garden, and the night view from here across Seoul is magnificent. The owners were friendly and helpful. We loved it.
