Myeongdong Guesthouse Como Overview

You know what struck me first about Myeongdong Guesthouse Como? It’s got this refreshingly unpretentious vibe that’s honestly pretty rare in the heart of Seoul‘s busiest shopping district. I mean, you’re literally surrounded by the chaos of Myeongdong – street food vendors calling out, tourists with shopping bags bumping into each other, that constant hum of city energy – but step inside and it feels like someone’s well-organized home rather than a typical budget accommodation.

The whole place has this clean, minimalist thing going on without being sterile, if that makes sense. I stayed there during cherry blossom season (which was probably a mistake timing-wise because everything was packed), but the staff actually helped me figure out the best times to hit the nearby spots when the crowds thinned out. They’re not just going through the motions – they genuinely seem to know the rhythm of the neighborhood. The rooms are smaller than what you’d get in most Western cities, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for Seoul, and they’ve made smart use of the space. Everything you need is there, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable for what you’re paying.

What I really appreciated was how walkable everything is from here. You can stumble out in the morning and grab incredible hotteok or bungeoppang from the street vendors – I probably gained five pounds just from the morning pastry routine I developed. The subway connections are ridiculously easy too, which matters when you’re trying to explore other parts of the city without spending half your day on transit. Evenings are actually my favorite time in this area because once the day-trippers head back to their hotels in other districts, you get to see more of the local crowd coming out. There’s this little 24-hour convenience store about two minutes away where I became embarrassingly familiar with the ajumma who runs the night shift – she started recommending different ramyeon flavors after my third visit. The only real downside is that if you’re a super light sleeper, the street noise can be a bit much until things quiet down around midnight, but honestly, that’s just part of the Myeongdong experience. For a 3-star place with decent ratings, it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re more interested in exploring the city than hanging out in your room.

To book a hotel in Seoul during major cultural festivals, travelers need early planning as this dynamic capital draws visitors eager to experience its cutting-edge technology and rich traditional heritage.

Reviews of Myeongdong Guesthouse Como

  • Karen from Isle of Man (8/10)

It was so close to everything interesting in Myeongdong that we got to bring back to the guesthouse stuff we didn’t want to carry around with us then go back to leisurely wandering about. A few steps from Myeongdong station which was very important. The staff were also very nice and helpful. Also, free coffee and tea in the common area by the reception.

  • Tim from United Kingdom (8/10)

    Very convenient location

  • Megan from Australia (9/10)

Really friendly staff who were super helpful when we needed something. The location was unbeatable. Great value for money. Would stay here again.

  • Elizabeth from United Kingdom (9/10)

The staff were friendly and helpful. From reading reviews I knew my single room would be very compact so it's best suited to people travelling with smallish luggage or rucksack. The building is old and could do with sprucing up a bit however I was otherwise pretty happy with the cleanliness of my room and it's bathroom. Also, excellent location both due to how close it is to Myeongdong exit 1 and a short walk away from the shopping hub and night market street.

  • Zoe from China (8/10)

Safety was great. Electronic padlocks. Location is essentially what you are paying for because its across the street from central myeong-dong street. So, close to the action but quieter so you can sleep. Although the rubbish bins truck did keep me up sometimes. Friendly, helpful staff who tried their best with english. Great information in reception. Also got the airport service which was a luxurious car and efficient service, but quite expensive on a student budget. Marvin was good at communicating.

  • Adrian from Australia (8/10)

Some may find the rooms too small, but actually, it was its beauty and specific aura. It's the best location you could imagine. Friendly stuff.

  • Clarita from Philippines (9/10)

The location was superb. Very very close to Myeongdong Station Exit 1. Also very near Myeongdong Shopping Street, convenience stores and the location is easy to find! For an older guesthouse, the room was pretty clean and well-kept. For a solo traveller like me, the double room was very very comfortable.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly and always available to help. The room was clean, and very comfortable. I would highly recommend this place for a relaxing stay.
