7mins to Jayang Station, near Han River Park
Your Seoul Retreat
Honestly, when I first saw the name 7mins to Jayang Station, near Han River Park, I thought it was a bit quirky – I mean, who names their hotel with directions? But after staying there, it actually makes perfect sense. The location really is the whole story here, and those seven minutes to the subway station? More like five if you walk at a decent pace, which I appreciated every morning when I was running late.
The thing about this 3-star place is that it gets the basics right without any fuss. You know what struck me most? How quiet it was at night, even though you’re practically in the heart of everything. The rooms aren’t huge – honestly, you’re not going to be doing yoga in there – but they’re thoughtfully laid out, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. I slept better than I expected, which is saying something since I’m usually pretty picky about pillows. The air conditioning works well too, which matters more than you’d think during Seoul‘s sticky summers. What really won me over, though, was stepping outside in the evening and realizing Han River Park is literally right there. I’m talking about a two-minute stroll to one of the best spots for watching the sunset over the water. You’ll see locals doing their evening jogs, couples having picnics, and families flying kites – it’s this whole scene that makes you feel like you’re actually experiencing Seoul, not just visiting it. The park connects to the riverside bike paths too, so if you’re into cycling, you can rent a bike and ride for hours along the Han River. During cherry blossom season (and trust me on this), you’re in prime territory without the insane crowds you’d face at more famous spots.
The 8.0 rating this place gets feels about right – it’s not trying to be fancy, but it delivers on what matters. The front desk staff speak decent English, check-in is smooth, and they keep the common areas clean. I did notice the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty on higher floors, but honestly, with Jayang Station so close, you’re never stuck there long anyway. The subway connection gets you to Hongdae in about 15 minutes, Myeongdong in 20, and you can reach most of Seoul’s main districts without any complicated transfers. What I really appreciated was having a convenience store (a proper 24-hour one) literally next door, plus a handful of local restaurants that stay open late. There’s this Korean BBQ place around the corner that’s nothing fancy but serves some of the best galbi I had during my entire trip – the kind of spot you’d never find if you stayed in the more touristy areas.
