MD Hotel Doksan
Your Seoul Retreat
When I first walked into MD Hotel Doksan, I’ll be honest – I wasn’t expecting much from a 4-star place in this part of Seoul. But you know what? Sometimes the hotels that don’t scream for attention end up being the ones that really get it right. The lobby has this understated modern vibe that actually feels welcoming rather than trying too hard to impress, and the staff at check-in were genuinely helpful without that overly rehearsed politeness you get at some places.
What really won me over was how thoughtfully everything seemed designed for actual comfort rather than Instagram photos. The rooms are spacious by Seoul standards (and I mean properly spacious, not just “well, at least you can open your suitcase”), with these great blackout curtains that actually work – crucial if you’re dealing with jet lag. The beds are firm but not rock-hard, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than what I have at home. I stayed on the seventh floor and it was remarkably quiet, which surprised me given how bustling this area gets during the day. The air conditioning works like a dream too, which anyone who’s spent a summer in Korea will tell you is non-negotiable.
Here’s the thing about the location – while it might not be in the flashy tourist districts, you’re actually in a spot where real Seoul happens. There’s this fantastic 24-hour convenience store literally next door (I may have become slightly addicted to their kimchi triangular kimbap at 2 AM), and you’ve got some seriously good local restaurants within a five-minute walk. The subway connection is solid without being overwhelmingly crowded, and I found myself appreciating how easy it was to get around without fighting tourist crowds every time I left the hotel. The neighborhood has that authentic residential feel during quieter hours, but transforms into this lively dining scene in the evenings. Parking was surprisingly hassle-free if you’re renting a car, though honestly, you probably won’t need one. With an 8.1 rating, it’s clear other travelers have figured out what I discovered – sometimes the best hotel experiences come from places that focus on doing the fundamentals really, really well rather than flashy extras you’ll never use.

Guest Reviews
The room smells good and is very clean. It's really close to some shops. It takes about 30 minutes to reach Gocheok Sky Dome by bus. Anyway, I am very glad to have stayed at this hotel.
Nice hotel, comfortable, good value for money.
Everything is perfect except the location is so far from the center, taxi takes around 20$ for each ride.
Fairly modern, good WIFI
The hotel itself looks nice on the surface. It has a coffee shop at the entrance, the neighbourhood is nice, the staff are really kind and ready to help. The room came with a nice view and a bathtub (our choice when booking). Every day, you get coffee and tea, and most of the time, water. All in all, it would have been perfect if not for the downsides.
The room size was good with nice view and breakfast was great
The hotel was really good in terms of service. It had everything you needed and room was very nice and clean. The staff were beyond amazing in helping you get to places and provided us with useful tips in getting around. I loved the hotel area as it was very local and away from the tourists.
Breakfast was too exceptional. You need more fruits.
It’s near to the bus stop. There are nearby convenience stores and coffee shops.
