MD HOTEL DOKSAN – Fomerly Staz Hotel Doksan Overview

So I stumbled across MD HOTEL DOKSAN – Formerly Staz Hotel Doksan during one of those trips where you’re not really sure what to expect, and honestly? It turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you feel like you actually know what you’re doing when you travel. The place has this solid, no-nonsense vibe that immediately puts you at ease – you know, the kind of hotel where the staff actually seems to care about whether you find your room okay and the elevators don’t make those weird grinding sounds that keep you awake at night.

What really struck me about this place is how it manages to feel both polished and comfortable at the same time. I mean, it’s got that 4-star quality you’d expect – the lobby doesn’t smell like industrial carpet cleaner, the rooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into furniture every time you turn around, and the beds are actually good. Like, really good. The kind where you wake up and think “okay, maybe I can handle another day of sightseeing.” The bathrooms are well-designed too, with decent water pressure and enough counter space for all your stuff, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong.

The location aspect is interesting because you get this sense of being somewhere authentic without feeling like you’re completely cut off from everything. There’s something refreshing about staying in a neighborhood where you see actual locals going about their daily business – grabbing coffee, heading to work, walking their dogs. You’ll find little restaurants and shops within walking distance that aren’t necessarily in your guidebook, which is honestly the best way to discover a place. The hotel sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to hop on public transport when you want to explore the main tourist areas, but far enough away that you can actually get some peace and quiet when you come back in the evening.

What impressed me most was the attention to detail – the kind of stuff that suggests the management actually stays in hotels themselves and knows what matters. The Wi-Fi works properly (and I tested it from every corner of my room because I’m paranoid like that), the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, and the housekeeping is thorough without being intrusive. The front desk staff seems genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions, and they actually know things about the surrounding area beyond just pointing you toward the nearest tourist trap. With an 8.2 rating, you can tell other travelers have had similar experiences – it’s not perfect, but it’s really, really solid. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need: a place that just works well and lets you focus on enjoying your trip instead of dealing with hotel drama.

I like the location, amenities, it had bath tub, hot and cold shower, lighted mirror, closet. The bed is big and soft. The table is great and well located. Ice machine in our floor and water dispenser is available as well. The convenience outlet was usable for my chargers, I don't have to use my travel adapters.

The bus stop was near the hotel as well as coffee shops, lotte mart, convenience store, etc. The nearest Train station is about 15 minutes walk.

Airport Buses Route 6004 passes here, so it is very accessible to and from ICN. Suwon is also accesible by Subway Line 1, or you can take the bus too.
