May house
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
Walking into May house in Seoul, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s a solid three-star spot tucked away in Mapo-gu, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work so well. The building itself is unassuming from the outside — you know, typical Seoul residential architecture — but there’s something refreshingly genuine about the whole setup that I really appreciated.
The Mapo-gu Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location: Mapo-gu is one of those neighborhoods that feels authentically Korean without being touristy. You’re actually in a residential area on Seongam-ro, which means you get to see how locals really live. There are convenience stores within a two-minute walk, and the subway connections are surprisingly good — I mean, you can get to Hongdae or Gangnam without too much hassle. Plus, couples seem to really dig this area (the ratings back that up), probably because it’s quieter than the main tourist zones but still well-connected. The neighborhood truly offers an authentic experience for travelers seeking genuine local culture.
Your Space
The room I stayed in was clean and functional, which is honestly all you need in Seoul since you’ll probably be out exploring most of the time anyway. What struck me was how thoughtfully everything was arranged — there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable for this price range. The whole setup feels more like staying in someone’s well-maintained apartment than a traditional hotel, which I actually preferred.
Practical Perks
You know what’s genuinely useful? The free parking on site. If you’re planning to rent a car and explore outside Seoul, this is actually a huge deal — most places in the city charge ridiculous amounts for parking or don’t have it at all. I watched other guests come and go easily, and there’s something to be said for not having to worry about where to leave your car in a city this dense. The whole property just runs smoothly without any fuss. This convenience makes a real difference for visitors with vehicles.
Why Guests Love It
Look, May house isn’t going to blow your mind with fancy amenities, but it does something more valuable — it gets out of your way and lets you enjoy Seoul. Recent guests have been rating the location really highly, and I get why. You’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the chaos to actually get some rest. For couples especially, there’s something nice about having a quiet base to return to after long days of wandering around the city. The value here is solid, and sometimes that’s exactly what you’re looking for. This hotel represents an excellent choice for budget-conscious travelers.

Guest Reviews
The location was great because there was an airport metro line stop near the stay (about a 10-minute walk from the station). Additionally, that metro line connects to many major places, such as Hongdae (Hongik Univ.) and Myeongdong. The area is a local town with fewer tourists and many locals.
It was a bit challenging to find the location since it is an old & small apartment, but once you enter the building, it's easy to identify the unit because it is decorated adorably. Inside, the apartment was super clean and cute (like their photos).
There were a lot of mosquitoes during my stay because it was mosquito season (not their fault, as Korea generally has a lot of mosquitoes before winter). Other than that, it was an amazing and cozy stay.
