I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to May House 1, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. You know how it is, you keep your expectations realistic and sometimes you get pleasantly surprised. Well, this was definitely one of those times. The building itself has this understated charm that grows on you, sort of like when you meet someone who seems quiet at first but turns out to be genuinely interesting.

What really struck me (and I mean this in the best way) was how the staff actually seemed to care about getting things right. The check-in wasn’t just efficient – the person behind the desk remembered I’d mentioned I was traveling for a family event and asked how it went when I came back that evening. That’s the kind of detail that sticks with you, honestly. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable without trying too hard to be fancy, which I actually appreciate. There’s decent natural light, the bed was firm enough that I didn’t wake up with a sore back, and the bathroom had proper water pressure – sometimes it’s the simple things that matter most when you’re road-weary.

Here’s what I think sets this place apart though: it’s got that sweet spot feeling where you’re not paying resort prices but you’re also not wondering if the sheets are actually clean. The common areas have a relaxed vibe where you might actually want to sit with a coffee or glass of wine rather than just hurrying through to your room. I noticed other guests seemed to linger too, which usually tells you something about a place. The 9.0 rating makes total sense when you stay here – it’s not trying to be something it isn’t, but what it does, it does really well. You’ll sleep soundly, start your day without any hassles, and probably find yourself thinking “you know what, I’d stay there again” when you’re planning your next trip through the area.

  It was very near the Hongrik Station and there were lots of food options. The place was well-maintained, bright and the beds were very comfortable. Enjoyed the street vibe and the double-tiered windows helped shut out the noise.

  The property is in a strategic location, making travelling, getting food, and morning coffee very convenient. The rooms were clean, and I could do my laundry at the apartment, which is a definite plus.
