Luxury hanok with private bathtub – SW07
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what caught me off guard about Luxury hanok with private bathtub – SW07? I honestly wasn’t expecting to feel so… transported, I guess is the word. I mean, you walk through these traditional wooden doors and suddenly you’re in this perfectly preserved hanok that somehow manages to feel both ancient and luxurious at the same time. The whole place has this incredible woody smell – that deep, rich scent of aged timber that you just can’t fake.
The private bathtub situation is actually brilliant, and I’m saying this as someone who usually couldn’t care less about hotel bathrooms. It’s this gorgeous traditional-style soaking tub that’s positioned so you can see out into the courtyard while you’re relaxing. The water pressure is fantastic (which isn’t always a given in traditional buildings), and they provide these amazing bath salts that smell like green tea and something floral I couldn’t quite place. What really impressed me though was how quiet everything gets in the evening – you’re completely insulated from any street noise, just the occasional sound of water trickling from the courtyard fountain.
The attention to detail here is something else entirely. They’ve got heated floors throughout – absolutely essential if you’re visiting in winter – and the bedding is this perfect combination of traditional Korean comfort and modern hotel quality. The room I stayed in had these beautiful hanji paper screens that filtered the morning light in the most gorgeous way, and honestly, waking up there felt like being in a completely different century. The staff really knows their stuff too; they’ll happily explain the history of the building and give you insider tips about the neighborhood that you won’t find in any guidebook. With a 9.3 rating, you’d expect it to be good, but this place actually exceeds those expectations. It’s the kind of spot where you find yourself taking way too many photos because everything looks like it belongs in a design magazine, but then you also just want to put your phone away and soak in (literally and figuratively) the whole experience. If you’re looking for something that’s genuinely different from your typical hotel stay – something with real character and soul – this hanok delivers in ways that’ll stick with you long after checkout.
