About this stay

Your Seoul Retreat

I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Luxury hanok with private bathtub – SN05, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The code-like “SN05” part had me thinking it might be some sort of cookie-cutter accommodation, but man, was I wrong about that assumption.

This place is actually a beautifully restored traditional Korean house, and you know what really got me? The way they’ve managed to blend authentic hanok architecture with modern comfort without making it feel forced or touristy. The moment you step through those traditional wooden doors, there’s this immediate sense of calm – maybe it’s the way the courtyard is designed, or how the rooms flow into each other, but it genuinely feels different from your typical hotel experience. The private bathtub (which, let’s face it, is why most people book this place) isn’t just thrown into a corner as an afterthought. They’ve actually integrated it thoughtfully into the space, and honestly, soaking in it after a long day of exploring feels pretty incredible. I mean, there’s something almost meditative about it, especially in the evening when the traditional paper windows create this soft, warm glow throughout the room.

What I really appreciate about staying here is how it gives you a genuine taste of traditional Korean living without sacrificing the essentials. The ondol heated floors are a game-changer during cooler months – your feet stay warm even when you’re walking around barefoot, which I found myself doing constantly. The room layout follows traditional hanok design, so it feels spacious despite not being huge, and there’s this sense of harmony in how everything’s arranged. I have to mention though, if you’re not used to sleeping closer to the floor, it might take a night or two to adjust – but honestly, I ended up loving how grounded it made me feel. The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you experience the attention to detail here. Everything from the traditional wooden furniture to the way natural light filters through during different times of day shows someone really cares about maintaining authenticity. The owners clearly understand that luxury doesn’t always mean marble bathrooms and gold fixtures – sometimes it’s about creating a space where you can genuinely disconnect and experience something different. Sure, it’s not going to have all the bells and whistles of a five-star chain hotel, but that’s sort of the point, isn’t it? If you’re looking for a unique stay that’ll give you stories to tell and a real appreciation for Korean traditional architecture, this hanok delivers on that promise beautifully.

Hotel in Seoul booking should be done early, especially during autumn foliage season when the city hosts internationally celebrated cultural events and festivals.

The authenticity of the hanok. It was perfectly placed in the beautiful village. Pretty easy to find.
The hot tub was great but note it takes around 40-50 minutes to fill up! Awesome projector.

This was exactly as it appeared in the pictures - beautiful interior, with the exposed wooden beams and lovely sliding doors, as well as the modern bathrooms etc, and the lovely courtyard outside. Getting there was easy - we were sent the entrance code and detailed instructions on how to get there on the day, which were really helpful. Good A/C, good wifi, there was a projector and sound system so we could watch a film on the big screen. Really quiet area at night, with lots of restaurants. Lovely bathtub, and bathsalts provided. I enjoyed having the tea they provided out in the courtyard with breakfast in the morning.

i really loved the location basically in the heart of a really popular area, cafes, shops, restaurants and other Hanoks to see. A short walk to many palaces and the metro was just down the road.

The hanok itself was really nice, it still has a very traditional feel, with a really tasteful modern touch.

This property is at the periphery of Bukchon Hanok village but quite close to Changdeokgoong (can visit on foot). Easy to check-in with clear instructions.
