Jeongdam Overview
You know what, Jeongdam is one of those places that catches you off guard – not in a flashy way, but more like discovering a decent neighborhood restaurant that nobody talks about but probably should. I’ll be honest, when I first pulled up, I wasn’t expecting much from this 3-star spot. The building has that practical Korean hotel look that’s more about function than making Instagram-worthy first impressions, but honestly? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
The thing about Jeongdam is that it gets the basics really right, which sounds boring but actually isn’t when you’ve stayed at places that can’t even manage hot water consistently. The rooms are clean – genuinely clean, not just surface-level clean – and while they’re not huge, they’re laid out smartly. I mean, you’re not going to be hosting dinner parties, but there’s enough space to actually unpack without living out of your suitcase. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too, which matters more than people think when you’re dealing with jet lag or long days of exploring. The staff doesn’t speak perfect English everywhere, but they’re incredibly helpful and patient, especially at the front desk where this one woman – I wish I’d gotten her name – went out of her way to help me figure out the subway system.
What really sold me on the place though was how it sits in its neighborhood. You’re not in the thick of tourist central, which means you actually get to see how regular people live and eat. There’s this amazing little bakery about two blocks away that opens ridiculously early – like 5:30 AM early – and their coffee is better than what you’ll find at most hotel lobbies. The area gets properly quiet at night, which is gold if you’re a light sleeper like me. I actually slept better here than at some fancier places where you’re constantly hearing elevators and hallway conversations. The 6.8 rating might seem middling, but I think that’s more about people’s expectations than actual problems. Sure, the lobby could use some updating, and yes, the WiFi gets a bit sluggish during peak hours, but the shower pressure is excellent and the air conditioning works without sounding like a helicopter landing on the roof. If you’re looking for marble everything and a concierge who knows your coffee order, this isn’t your place. But if you want somewhere clean, comfortable, and honestly priced where you can actually rest between adventures – and maybe discover some great local spots in the process – Jeongdam delivers on that promise without any pretense.
Hotel in Seoul booking should be done early, especially during autumn foliage season when the city hosts internationally celebrated cultural events and festivals.

Estaba súper limpio. Bastante lejos del centro, pero cerca del metro, parada sindorim. Para un fin de semana fue suficiente
