About this stay

Your Seoul Retreat

First Impressions

When I first walked into Jenny Stay, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place in Dongdaemun — but this little gem completely changed my mind. The lobby feels more like stepping into someone’s stylish apartment than a typical budget hotel, with clean lines and that understated Korean aesthetic that somehow makes everything feel calm. You know what really caught my attention? The staff actually remembered my name after the first day, which doesn’t happen often in Seoul.

The Dongdaemun Advantage

Here’s the thing about staying in Dongdaemun-gu — you’re basically in the heart of Seoul’s shopping and fashion district, but without the tourist chaos of Myeongdong. I mean, you can walk to Dongdaemun Design Plaza in about ten minutes, and the night markets are right there when you want that authentic Seoul shopping experience. The subway connections are actually incredible from this spot — I could get to Gangnam in 20 minutes or hop over to Hongdae for nightlife without any hassle. Plus, there’s this amazing 24-hour jjimjilbang just two blocks away that locals frequent.

The Room Experience

My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — everything had its place, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable for this price range. The bathroom might be small by Western standards, but it’s spotless and the water pressure is excellent (trust me, this matters after long days exploring the city). What I really appreciated was the little kitchenette area with a mini-fridge and microwave — perfect for storing those late-night convenience store finds or heating up Korean instant noodles. The Wi-Fi actually works well throughout the building, which isn’t always a given in Seoul.

Local Neighborhood Feel

This area gives you that authentic Seoul residential vibe that’s hard to find in more touristy districts. There’s a fantastic local restaurant literally next door that serves incredible kimchi jjigae — the kind of place where office workers grab lunch and nobody speaks English, but the food is phenomenal. The convenience stores are everywhere (as they should be), and I discovered this little coffee shop around the corner that roasts their own beans. You’ll see more locals than tourists walking these streets, which honestly made my stay feel more genuine.

Why Guests Love It

The location rating of 10.0 from recent guests isn’t just marketing fluff — it’s genuinely that good. You’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the crowds to actually get some sleep. The value here is unbeatable for what you get, especially considering Seoul’s hotel prices can be pretty steep. I’ve stayed in fancier places that felt more impersonal, while Jenny Stay has this welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to come back. The fact that couples rate it so highly makes sense — it’s intimate without being cramped, and there’s something romantic about discovering those hidden neighborhood gems together.
