Honestly, when I first walked into Hotel Skypark Dongdaemun I, I wasn’t expecting much – you know how some 4-star places can be hit or miss. The location is honestly what makes this place special – I mean, you’re literally surrounded by Dongdaemun’s famous fashion markets and those massive shopping complexes that stay open until dawn. I spent my first night wandering around Doota and APM Place until like 3 AM, then just walked back to the hotel in five minutes. During the day, you’ve got Dongdaemun History & Culture Park right there (the subway station connects everything), and if you’re into late-night shopping or just soaking up that electric Seoul energy, you really can’t beat this spot. The thing is, despite being in such a buzzing area, my room was surprisingly peaceful – they must have decent soundproofing because I barely heard the street noise.

What I really appreciated were the small details that show they actually think about their guests. The room wasn’t huge, but it was smartly designed with plenty of outlets near the bed (thank god, because who travels with just one device anymore?), and the bathroom was spotless with one of those rainfall showerheads that actually has decent pressure. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout the building, which matters when you’re trying to navigate Seoul’s subway system or translate menus. I’ll be honest – the breakfast wasn’t anything to write home about, but there’s incredible street food literally everywhere around here, so you’re not exactly hurting for options. Plus, there’s a 7-Eleven right around the corner for those late-night snack runs. At a 7.9 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and after staying here for four nights, I get why people keep coming back. It’s one of those places that just works – nothing flashy, but everything you need in a neighborhood that never sleeps.
