Hotel POCO Seongsu Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Hotel POCO Seongsu, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a 3-star place in this rapidly changing neighborhood. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries come from keeping an open mind. This hotel sits right in the heart of Seoul‘s most interesting district transformation, where old industrial buildings are becoming hip cafés and creative spaces faster than you can say “gentrification.”

The thing about Seongsu-dong is that it’s still got this authentic, slightly rough-around-the-edges vibe that most trendy Seoul neighborhoods have lost. I mean, you’ll walk past actual factories and then stumble into some incredibly cool coffee roastery that looks like it belongs in Brooklyn. Hotel POCO gets this balance right – it’s clean and comfortable without trying too hard to be Instagram-perfect. The rooms are compact but smartly designed (think Japanese efficiency meets Korean practicality), and honestly, the 7.8 rating makes sense once you factor in the location and price point. You’re not getting luxury here, but you’re getting something maybe more valuable – a real sense of place.

What really won me over was how the staff seemed to genuinely understand their neighborhood. The front desk guy – I think his name was Jin – gave me directions to this tiny workshop where they make custom leather goods, something I never would’ve found on my own. And the breakfast? Well, it’s pretty standard Korean hotel fare, but there’s this little bakery literally two minutes away where locals line up for these incredible cream buns every morning around 8 AM. The hotel’s close enough to Ttukseom Park that you can actually hear the Han River on quiet nights, which is surprisingly soothing after a day of exploring the city. The area gets pretty quiet after 9 PM on weekdays – it’s more of a daytime destination right now – so if you’re looking for nightlife, you’ll want to hop on the subway. But if you’re into that whole “authentic local experience” thing without staying in some sketchy guesthouse, this place hits the sweet spot. Just don’t expect a concierge or room service, and maybe pack some good walking shoes because the nearest subway station involves a bit of a trek through some interesting industrial scenery.

Reviews of Hotel POCO Seongsu

  • Manching from Japan (8/10)

Location is great! So close to the metro station.

  • John from Singapore (8/10)

Location is excellent. Many eateries within 10 min walking distance. Seongsu is a wonderful hipster area with trendy shops and cafes. 24-hour convenience shop just next door to the hotel. Seongsu train station is a 3 min walk away. Seongsu is on the green line which connects to Hongdae, Gangnam and easily reaches Myeongdong via a transfer.

Hotel room and environment: Great. Cleaned everyday, my bed was made daily, the towels changed daily. The room was light-filled due to the large windows and it was pretty quiet. I was not disturbed. The pillows were a little soft for my liking. Housekeeping even folded my clothes. Great water pressure on the shower. Aircon was good and cold.

The hotel lobby had a fridge, hot and cold water dispenser and a microwave. Umbrellas offered for free when it rained. Internet was pretty speedy. They had a WOW machine for you to buy your train tickets and T-money (cashless card payment system accepted almost everywhere).

  • Renee from United States (7/10)

Location to the train. Price was a capable. Couple of the staff were outstanding. One evening clerk ran over to a nearby Korean BbQ restaurant and made us a reservation. One woman front desk person was so pleasant and nice to us.

  • Marianne from Singapore (9/10)

Water dispenser and microwave available. Counter staff were friendly. Convenient to many eateries in the area and just walkable distance to Lotte mall and the train station, direct line to Lotte world.
Rooms had heating and the toliet and room was very big and comfortable. Very clean and there’s also a rain shower. Easy check in and out. Beds were movable so that made the room family friendly for families with toddlers. I would stay again if I wanted to go Lotte world.

I like the location because it's just one minute away from Seongsu station. Staffs were friendly and were always ready to help. Felt safe in this area too. CU mart is right beside and you can literally walk for 5 minutes to reach Dior Seongsu. Definitely worth the money.
