Hongdae, Private Flats
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
Walking into Hongdae, Private Flats feels more like visiting a friend’s well-designed apartment than checking into a typical hotel. This three-star property sits right in the heart of one of Seoul‘s most vibrant neighborhoods, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building itself is unassuming from the outside — you’ll find the entrance tucked between local shops on a quiet side street that somehow manages to feel both residential and exciting.
The Hongdae Advantage
You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You’re literally in the middle of Hongdae’s creative chaos without being overwhelmed by it. I mean, step outside and you’re surrounded by indie cafes, vintage shops, and some of the best Korean BBQ spots that locals actually frequent. The university crowd keeps this area buzzing until late, but the side street location means you can actually get some sleep. Couples seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.5, and I totally understand why.
The Space
Each room here feels thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter corporate. The flats spread across the second and third floors, and while they’re not huge, they use space cleverly. You’ll find a compact kitchenette that’s actually functional — not just for show — which is perfect if you want to grab ingredients from the local market and try cooking Korean instant noodles properly. The Wi-Fi is solid (essential when you’re trying to navigate Seoul’s subway system), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable for a mid-range place.
Neighborhood Life
What I love about this area is how it shifts throughout the day. Mornings are quiet and residential, perfect for grabbing coffee from one of those tiny specialty roasters that Koreans do so well. By afternoon, the streets fill with students and artists, and there’s this creative energy that’s infectious. Evenings bring the famous Hongdae nightlife, but you’re close enough to enjoy it without being trapped in the middle of drunk university students at 3 AM. The subway connections are excellent too — Hongik University Station is a short walk, making the rest of Seoul easily accessible.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.2 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — no fancy lobby or pretentious amenities. Instead, it delivers exactly what you need: a clean, comfortable base in one of Seoul’s most interesting neighborhoods. The staff seems to understand that most guests are here for the location and the authentic Seoul experience, not for room service or a business center. If you want to feel like you’re actually living in Seoul rather than just visiting it, this place hits that sweet spot between comfort and local immersion.

Guest Reviews
Such a comfortable CLEAN and spacious home in a fabulous location. We loved it so much we cancelled accommodation in another part of Seoul to return here to Hongdae at the end of our South Korea trip.
Excellent access to the train station, eateries, convenience store and plants of family friendly nightlife. With the station so close, you can explore all of Seoul easily. The station is also a common meeting place for a lot of tour group operators.
The guesthouse is very private, soundproofed, and comfortable.
Communication was easy, clear and timely.
Apartment is a large place close to transport and restaurants.
Easy self checked in, the super host with well spoken & written English will provide you the code to enter the property one day before your arrival. The only advise if you are planning lots of shopping, for heavy luggage are not advisable as there are staircases to shift your luggage when you check out the property. Unless there are hunk / men assisting you with the luggage, this property will be the perfect choice for a party of 2 to 4 pax ABnB. Thumbs up !!

Clean and Spacious Apartment.
My fiancé and I stayed here for just over a week and had a great time in this apartment! It was very large and comfortable, with basically anything/everything you could want or need in the apartment. Air conditioners were great and cold, fridge was big, bathroom is nice. The location is absolutely amazing too, it’s about a 5-8 minute walk from Hongdae train station & the Main Street for Hongdae shopping, nightlife, food, etc. On the street where this apartment is, there are tons of great food & cafe options. There bus stops like 1 min walk from the apartment that are very convenient too. Really, it was an amazing spot and we highly recommend it!
Incredible location, spacious loft style one-bedroom with extra sleeping space on the futon. Nicely furnished.
The appartment was nice, clean and well-equipped.
Location is great. It is close to metro station, there are several restaurants on the same street and much more in walkable distance. And awesome bakery around the corner. The street is generally peaceful and quite (= it is not a party street).
The owner is nice and informs in understandable way.
I would stay here again.
The host is kind to allow us to leave the luggage before checkin time while they are cleaning the room. Room size is big with good location.
The location was perfect.
