Hoban Apartment, KonKuk Univ Station
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
When I first walked into Hoban Apartment, KonKuk Univ Station, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in simple packages. The lobby is clean and modern without trying too hard, and the staff actually seemed genuinely happy to help rather than just going through the motions. It’s one of those places that feels more like a well-run apartment building than a traditional hotel — which, given the name, makes perfect sense.
Location & Neighborhood
The location is honestly what sold me on this place. Being right by Konkuk University Station means you’re plugged into Seoul’s subway system without dealing with the chaos of the city center. I mean, you can get to Gangnam in about 20 minutes, but you’re staying in Gwangjin-gu where things feel a bit more authentic and lived-in. The university area brings this great energy — lots of affordable restaurants, late-night spots, and that buzzy feeling you get around students. Plus, couples really seem to love it here, and I can see why — it’s got that perfect balance of being connected but not overwhelming.
The Room Experience
The room setup is where this place really shines. It’s more spacious than your typical Seoul accommodation, with a proper living area that doesn’t feel cramped. The kitchen is actually functional — not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation, but real counter space and appliances you’d actually want to use. I found myself making coffee in the morning and even cooking a simple dinner one night, which felt surprisingly natural. The bed is comfortable enough, and the whole space has this clean, minimalist vibe that somehow feels cozy rather than sterile.
Practical Perks
What I really appreciated were the little things that make a difference when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. The Wi-Fi actually works everywhere in the unit, there’s plenty of storage space for your stuff, and the bathroom has good water pressure — honestly, that last one is not always a given in Seoul. Parking is available if you’re brave enough to drive in the city, though I’d stick with the subway. The building itself is quiet, which is pretty impressive considering you’re in a university neighborhood.
Why Guests Love It
After spending time here, I totally get why recent guests rate the location so highly. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re experiencing real Seoul life without being completely overwhelmed by tourist crowds. The apartment-style setup gives you flexibility — you can eat out and explore, or you can grab groceries and have a quiet night in. For couples especially, there’s something nice about having your own little space to retreat to after a day of sightseeing. It’s not fancy, but it’s thoughtfully done and genuinely comfortable in a way that feels authentic rather than manufactured.
