Hey Seoul Stay
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what really caught me off guard about Hey Seoul Stay? The name makes it sound like some trendy millennial hostel, but when I walked in, it actually felt more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed apartment building. It’s one of those places where the lobby isn’t trying to impress anyone with marble columns or whatever – just clean lines, decent furniture, and staff who seem genuinely happy to see you rather than going through the motions.
The thing about this place is it gets the basics absolutely right, which honestly matters more than fancy extras when you’re dealing with jet lag and just want your room key to work on the first try. My room was compact but thoughtfully laid out – I mean, they actually put hooks on the bathroom door and enough outlets near the bed, little things that make you realize someone who travels designed these spaces. The bed was firmer than what you’d find at most American hotels, but in that good Korean way where you wake up without a backache. And the shower pressure? Actually impressive for a mid-range spot in Seoul.
What I really appreciated was how the place sits in the city. You’re not stuck in some tourist bubble, but you’re also not wandering around lost trying to find decent coffee at 7 AM. The subway access is solid – maybe a five-minute walk depending on which exit you use – and there’s this great little convenience store literally next door that becomes your best friend when you need snacks or forgot to pack phone chargers. The neighborhood has that lived-in feel where you’ll see office workers grabbing lunch alongside tourists, which I always take as a good sign. Honestly, I spent way too much money at the Korean BBQ place two blocks over, but the hotel staff pointed me toward it, so I’m calling that a win. The only minor thing is that rooms facing the main street can get a bit noisy during morning rush hour, but nothing earplugs can’t handle if you’re a light sleeper. Overall, Hey Seoul Stay does exactly what a good three-star should do – it gets out of your way so you can actually enjoy the city you came to see.
