Hello Seochon – Gyeongbokgung Station Overview
Honestly, when I first stumbled across Hello Seochon – Gyeongbokgung Station, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name alone – it sounds almost like a friendly greeting mixed with transit directions. But you know what? That actually captures the vibe pretty perfectly. This 3-star spot sits right in the heart of Seochon village, which is this charming maze of narrow alleys and hanok houses that somehow survived Seoul‘s development boom. I mean, you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Gyeongbokgung Palace (hence the name), but more importantly, you’re tucked into one of Seoul’s last authentic neighborhoods where locals still hang laundry outside and elderly folks gather at corner stores.
The hotel itself has this understated, almost minimalist approach that works really well here. The rooms are clean and functional without trying to be fancy – think modern comfort meets Korean simplicity. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, despite being so central. Seochon has this weird ability to feel completely separate from the city chaos just blocks away. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you navigate the area, and they’ll point you toward the good stuff locals actually go to, not just tourist traps. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend arriving before evening since the front desk isn’t 24/7 like bigger hotels.
Here’s the thing though – this place is really about location and authenticity rather than luxury amenities. The neighborhood is incredible for wandering, especially early morning when you can watch the village wake up. There are these tiny cafes hidden in converted hanoks, and traditional restaurants where you might be the only non-Korean person eating. Plus, when you do want to hit the major sights, Gyeongbokgung is right there, and you can easily walk to Bukchon Hanok Village or catch the subway to anywhere else. The rating sits at a 7, which feels about right – it’s solid and does exactly what it promises without any real surprises, good or bad. If you’re the type who wants to experience Seoul beyond the shiny Gangnam areas and actually sleep somewhere with character, this works. Just don’t expect a pool or room service – you’re paying for the chance to live like a temporary local in one of the city’s most interesting pockets.
Best hotels in Seoul range from luxurious properties in the upscale Gangnam district to boutique hotels with stunning views of Namsan Tower and the Han River.

Amazing location, full of great restaurants, right next to Gyeongbokgung Palace, subway stations and Airport Limo service. We stayed in the basement apartment that had 4 beds, plentiful AC, washing machine, space to eat meals as a family. The host left towels, dishes and pots to make a long term stay comfortable.
