Guesthouse The Hill
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
Walking up to Guesthouse The Hill, you immediately get that cozy neighborhood vibe that’s honestly hard to find in Seoul these days. It’s tucked away on this quiet side street in Jung-gu, and I mean quiet — which is pretty remarkable considering you’re basically in the heart of the city. The building itself has this understated charm that doesn’t scream “tourist hotel,” and that’s actually what I loved about it. You feel like you’re staying somewhere locals might recommend to their friends.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about the location — it’s one of those spots where everything just works out perfectly. You’re on Toegye-ro, which puts you within easy walking distance of Myeongdong (seriously, like five minutes), but you’re far enough off the main drag that you don’t hear the shopping crowds at night. I could walk to Namsan Tower when I felt like it, and getting to the subway was never more than a quick stroll. What really impressed me was how couples seem to gravitate toward this area — there’s something romantic about these narrow streets with their mix of traditional and modern Seoul.
The Guesthouse Experience
Guesthouse The Hill operates more like a boutique spot than your typical three-star accommodation. The rooms are clean and thoughtfully designed — not huge, but honestly, you’re in Seoul, so you’re probably not planning to spend much time indoors anyway. What I appreciated was the attention to small details: good lighting for reading, decent Wi-Fi that actually worked throughout the building, and bathrooms that felt modern without being sterile. The staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure guests were comfortable, which you notice more in smaller places like this.
Neighborhood Character
This part of Jung-gu has this wonderful mix of old Seoul charm and modern convenience that’s getting harder to find. You’ve got these little family-run restaurants tucked between newer cafes, and honestly, some of the best Korean food I had during my trip was within a two-block radius of the guesthouse. The morning walks through the neighborhood were actually one of my favorite parts of staying here — you get to see how locals start their day before the tourist areas wake up. There’s a traditional market nearby where you can grab fresh fruit or snacks, and the whole area just feels authentic in a way that’s refreshing.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to Guesthouse The Hill isn’t any single standout feature — it’s how everything comes together. You’re getting solid value for money in a location that consistently rates highly with guests, especially couples who appreciate the quieter streets and romantic atmosphere. The 8.4 guest rating makes sense when you experience the place firsthand; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does offer is done well. If you want to feel connected to Seoul’s neighborhood life while still having easy access to all the major attractions, this spot delivers on that promise without any fuss.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Seoul before summer brings Han River picnics, rooftop pojangmacha nights, and warm evenings at Banpo Bridge fountains.

Guest Reviews
The location is good and the boss is so nice
Great location despite the small hill to walk up
the location, the response rate of the owner and the free use of the washing machine
I like the cleanliness and comfort of the place. The amenities and especially friendliness of the staff/manager is especially welcome. thank you for arranging the transport to the airport.
Location is great, you're pretty much next to anywhere you want to go. Room was also quite spacious for the price.
The location was convenient for visiting N Seoul Tower and reasonably close to the Myeongdong subway station. It was up the hill a bit, but so are many other guesthouses in the area, this is just the natural landscape of Seoul. The room was small, but still comfortable and clean. There was a shared kitchen. You will be asked to remove your shoes upon entering. It was quiet at night, but needed to use the AC quite a bit, as Seoul is just very hot and humid in August.
Good location close t bus part of the city. Plenty to see in walking distance. Cable car to N Seoul Tower a good trip.
Owner was very helpful with instructions to reach guesthouse & organised airport transfer for us, which was much appreciated
The location is perfect, right by a bus stop and minutes’ walk to Myeong Dong. 7/11 1 minute away. There was aircon and wifi and a communal kitchen. Basic rooms but all the essentials were there.
It is affordable, walking distance to tge metro srarion and myeongdong night market
Friendly host with great communication. Cosy room, comfortable bed. Surprisingly excellent hairdryer. Very convenient location near Myeongdong - the hill is steep, but the location is good for riding the Namsan cable car or walking to the park.
