Guesthouse The Hill
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what struck me first about Guesthouse The Hill? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – this place sits on what feels like a proper hill, and honestly, the climb is worth it for the views alone. I mean, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star guesthouse, but sometimes these smaller places surprise you in the best way.
The whole setup has this really authentic, homey vibe that you just don’t get at those cookie-cutter chain hotels. The owners clearly put thought into the details – there are these little touches everywhere, from the way they’ve arranged the common areas to how they actually remember your name after day one. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that corporate rigmarole. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works properly (you’d be surprised how rare that is). I particularly appreciated that the beds are actually decent – firm enough that you don’t sink into oblivion but soft enough that you’re not lying on a rock. The bathrooms are small but well-designed, and the water pressure is surprisingly good.
What really sold me on this place though is how genuine everything feels. The staff genuinely seem to care about whether you’re having a good time, and they’re full of local recommendations that actually pan out. They pointed me toward this little café about ten minutes’ walk away that I never would have found otherwise – seriously good coffee and none of the tourist markup. The common areas get lively in the evenings without being rowdy, perfect for meeting other travelers if that’s your thing, or just enjoying a quiet drink if it’s not. Parking was easier than I expected too, which honestly was a relief after driving around some of these narrow streets. The 8.4 rating this place has earned feels spot-on – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. Sure, you’re not getting luxury amenities or room service, but you’re getting something better: a place that feels real and welcoming, where the people running it actually care about hospitality rather than just going through the motions.

Guest Reviews
The location is good and the boss is so nice
Great location despite the small hill to walk up
the location, the response rate of the owner and the free use of the washing machine
I like the cleanliness and comfort of the place. The amenities and especially friendliness of the staff/manager is especially welcome. thank you for arranging the transport to the airport.
Location is great, you're pretty much next to anywhere you want to go. Room was also quite spacious for the price.
The location was convenient for visiting N Seoul Tower and reasonably close to the Myeongdong subway station. It was up the hill a bit, but so are many other guesthouses in the area, this is just the natural landscape of Seoul. The room was small, but still comfortable and clean. There was a shared kitchen. You will be asked to remove your shoes upon entering. It was quiet at night, but needed to use the AC quite a bit, as Seoul is just very hot and humid in August.
Good location close t bus part of the city. Plenty to see in walking distance. Cable car to N Seoul Tower a good trip.
Owner was very helpful with instructions to reach guesthouse & organised airport transfer for us, which was much appreciated
The location is perfect, right by a bus stop and minutes’ walk to Myeong Dong. 7/11 1 minute away. There was aircon and wifi and a communal kitchen. Basic rooms but all the essentials were there.
It is affordable, walking distance to tge metro srarion and myeongdong night market
Friendly host with great communication. Cosy room, comfortable bed. Surprisingly excellent hairdryer. Very convenient location near Myeongdong - the hill is steep, but the location is good for riding the Namsan cable car or walking to the park.
