Five hotel Jongno Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Five hotel Jongno? The name sounds way fancier than what you’re actually getting – but honestly, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. This 3-star spot sits right in the heart of Seoul‘s historic Jongno district, and I mean really in the thick of it. You’ll hear the city humming outside your window, which some people love and others… well, pack earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.
The lobby’s pretty compact – nothing fancy, but clean and efficient in that no-nonsense Korean way. Check-in was surprisingly smooth when I stayed there, though the front desk staff’s English varies depending on who’s working. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid mid-range place: not huge, but they’ve got everything you actually need. The beds are firmer than what most Americans are used to (very Korean style), and the bathrooms are those efficient wet-room setups where everything’s designed to get splashed. I actually appreciated how well-designed the small space was – every inch serves a purpose.
What really makes this place work is the location, and I don’t mean that in a generic “convenient location” way. You’re walking distance from Jongmyo Shrine, which is absolutely worth seeing if you’re into history, and the whole area has this amazing mix of traditional hanok buildings next to modern shops selling everything from ginseng to the latest K-beauty products. There’s a 24-hour convenience store literally around the corner – saved me multiple times when I needed snacks or forgot to buy phone chargers. The subway connections are solid too, though you’ll be doing some walking since the nearest station isn’t right outside the door. Street food vendors set up in the evenings nearby, and honestly, some of the best tteokbokki I had in Seoul came from a cart about two blocks away. The neighborhood gets pretty lively at night (hence my earlier comment about potential noise), but it’s the good kind of lively – families out for dinner, students grabbing late-night snacks, that sort of authentic Seoul energy you came to experience anyway. For the price point and the 7.5 rating it’s earned, Five hotel Jongno delivers exactly what it promises – a decent, clean place to sleep in an incredibly vibrant part of the city.

I like the location as it was close to many must-see sites, no matter if you went North or South. There was plenty of public transport, including airport limousine bus.
The room was decent, airco was placed perfectly (right above the bed, but it blew away from the bed), water pressure and temperature was great (handheld & rain shower)
Bugspray is provided, as well as a fire extinguisher, an emergency line & wall mount in case you have to escape through the window. Two waste bins were provided with extra waste bags underneath the existing one.
Although I thought I wouldn't like the 4 mini towels (40x80cm) it was actually fine. Even if you didn't request cleaning, you would get 4 clean towels a day (& 2 bottles of water)Bat from Mongolia (7/10)

The hotel is quite nice and fairly clean. The aircon is a lifesaver in the heat. The bathroom is a decent size and they provide you with fresh towels and bottled water every day. You get quite a lovely view from the windows on the higher floors. The staff are very polite and friendly. It's based in a good location, quite close to several train stops and tourist attractions.

Handy location centrally located. A bit challenging to find initially. It is a budget option, for the price is reasonable value. helpful that you can leave luggage before or after checkout. Washing facilities good
