You know what really surprised me about Daol Guesthouse? It’s one of those places that completely defies its humble 3-star rating – honestly, I’ve stayed at supposedly fancier hotels that didn’t come close to this level of genuine hospitality. The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about your experience, not just whether you’ll leave a decent review.

The thing is, this isn’t your cookie-cutter boutique hotel trying too hard to be Instagram-worthy. Instead, it’s got this authentic, lived-in quality that makes you feel like you’re staying with a friend who happens to have impeccable taste. The common areas have this perfect balance of being social without feeling crowded – I mean, you can actually have a conversation without competing with elevator music or the constant ding of slot machines from some lobby bar. What really got me was how quiet it stays even when it’s busy; the walls are surprisingly solid, and you’re not dealing with that paper-thin construction you get at a lot of budget places.

I’ll be straight with you – the rooms aren’t massive, but they’re thoughtfully designed in a way that makes the space work. Everything feels intentional, from the lighting (which is actually decent for getting ready, unlike most places) to the way they’ve set up the storage so you’re not living out of your suitcase on the floor. The bathrooms are clean and functional, with water pressure that doesn’t make you question your life choices. What impressed me most, though, was the staff – they’re genuinely helpful without being pushy, and they seem to actually know the area well enough to give you real recommendations, not just the tourist trap stuff everyone suggests. Check-in was smooth, no weird hidden fees or surprise charges, and they’re pretty flexible about timing if you need to adjust your plans. The 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. This is the kind of place you’d actually recommend to people you like, if that makes sense.

  The number one thing about this guesthouse is the location, if I could give more than 10/10, I would. A big subway station is around the corner, so you can easily go to other stations in Seoul. However, Hongdae itself is really lively and great to be at. There are so many restaurants and bars near the guesthouse, but in the room it is really quiet! The host is also really friendly and helpful. The rooms(bedroom&bathroom) look exactly like the pictures, they are clean and the beds are comfortable. Me and my sister were very happy with our stay here 🙂

  Close to exit 3 of Hongdae Station. Cute little home. Very neat and tidy. Owner is easily contactable via Line and let me drop my luggage off before check-in. Note that there's 3 sets of stairs if you have luggage but the owner generously offered to help carry it up. Tonnes of bars, restaurants, cafes, and shopping nearby but the general Hongdae precinct is within walking distance.

  I'm so lucky that I chosen the right guesthouse. The daol guesthouse was totally perfect there is nothing to complain. Guesthouse so nearly to hongik station exit3, good location, easy check in, rest room so clean and safety. I recommend this place if you looking for good rest after a long trip.
