During the day, you can see clear across to Namsan Tower and beyond, and at night the city lights spread out below like someone scattered diamonds on black velvet (I know, sounds cheesy, but it really does look like that). The host was actually super helpful with directions and restaurant recommendations – they pointed me toward this tiny jjajangmyeon place about ten minutes down the hill that doesn’t even have a sign in English but serves some of the best noodles I had in Korea. Parking can be tricky if you’re renting a car, but honestly, you’re better off using the subway anyway – Dongdaemun History & Culture Park station is walkable, though again, expect some hills. The whole experience feels more like staying in a real Seoul neighborhood rather than some sanitized tourist bubble, which is exactly what I was looking for.
