Blissful house
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
When I first stumbled upon Blissful house tucked away on a quiet side street in Jongno-gu, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star property. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries come in unassuming packages. This little gem sits in one of Seoul‘s most authentic neighborhoods, where traditional hanoks blend seamlessly with modern cafes and the tourist crowds thin out just enough to let you breathe.
The Neighborhood Charm
The location here is actually brilliant — I mean, there’s a reason couples rate this place so highly for romantic getaways. You’re walking distance from Bukchon Hanok Village without being right in the thick of the selfie-stick chaos, and the nearby Samcheong-dong area has some of the city’s best hidden galleries and tea houses. The narrow alleyways around Jahamun-ro feel like stepping back in time, especially in the early morning when locals are heading to work and the street food vendors are just setting up.
Soaking Away the City Stress
Here’s where Blissful house really surprised me — the hot spring facilities are genuinely impressive for a smaller property. The open-air bath becomes this little oasis where you can actually see stars on clear nights (rare for Seoul, trust me). I spent way too much time in that hot tub, watching the city lights twinkle beyond the traditional rooflines. The water’s mineral-rich and feels incredible after a day of temple-hopping and market wandering.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — sort of that perfect Korean efficiency where every inch serves a purpose. The ondol floor heating kept things cozy during my winter visit, and the windows actually opened (you’d be surprised how rare that is in Seoul hotels). The bedding was crisp and comfortable, though I’ll be honest, the walls are a bit thin so you might hear your neighbors if they’re chatty. The bathroom was spotless with good water pressure, which matters more than you think after long days exploring.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed guesthouse than a commercial hotel. The staff genuinely cares about your experience — they’ll draw you maps to their favorite local spots and warn you about which subway exits to avoid during rush hour. The 9.5 rating makes perfect sense when you consider the value proposition here. You’re getting authentic Seoul neighborhood vibes, legitimate relaxation facilities, and a location that puts you right in the cultural heart of the city without paying Gangnam prices. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about soaking in those hot springs together after exploring the palace grounds nearby, then falling asleep to the gentle sounds of this historic district settling in for the night.
Best hotels in Seoul range from luxurious properties in the upscale Gangnam district to boutique hotels with stunning views of Namsan Tower and the Han River.
