About this stay

Your Seoul Retreat

First Impressions

Walking up to Bliss Cottage, you’d honestly never guess you’re about to step into one of Seoul’s most charming four-star retreats. Tucked away on a quiet side street in Jongno-gu, this place feels more like discovering a well-kept secret than checking into a hotel. The entrance is understated — almost modest — but there’s something immediately welcoming about the whole setup that puts you at ease before you’ve even made it through the door.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about staying in this part of Jongno-gu: you’re actually in the heart of historic Seoul without dealing with the chaos of the main tourist strips. The location scored a 9.0 with recent guests, and honestly, I get it. You can walk to Gyeongbokgung Palace in about fifteen minutes, but when you want to escape the crowds, you just duck back into these quieter residential streets. There’s a fantastic local coffee shop two blocks over that most tourists never find, and the subway access is close enough to be practical but far enough that you’re not hearing trains all night.

The Rooms

The accommodations at Bliss Cottage strike this perfect balance between Korean minimalism and genuine comfort. My room had these lovely traditional touches — think warm wood accents and clean lines — but with all the modern conveniences you actually need. The bedding was exceptional (I’m picky about this), and there’s plenty of space to spread out, which isn’t always a given in Seoul hotels. What really impressed me was the attention to lighting — they’ve got it figured out so you can actually read comfortably or wind down in the evening without harsh overhead glare.

The Hot Spring Experience

Now, this is where things get interesting. The hot spring bath and jacuzzi aren’t just nice additions — they’re genuinely therapeutic after long days exploring the city. I mean, you know how your feet feel after walking around Myeongdong all day? The mineral-rich hot spring water here actually helps with that. It’s not a huge facility, which I actually prefer because it feels more intimate and relaxing. The water temperature is perfectly maintained, and there’s something almost meditative about soaking while looking out at the small garden area they’ve created.

Why Guests Love It

Couples particularly rave about this place, and after staying here, I understand why it earned that 8.4 rating. There’s this sense of privacy and tranquility that’s hard to find in busier parts of Seoul — you feel like you’re staying somewhere special rather than just another hotel room. The staff genuinely cares about your experience without being overly formal about it, and the whole atmosphere encourages you to slow down a bit. Whether you’re planning romantic evenings or just want a peaceful base for exploring the city, Bliss Cottage delivers that rare combination of authentic Korean hospitality and upscale comfort that makes a trip memorable.

Best hotels in Seoul range from luxurious properties in the upscale Gangnam district to boutique hotels with stunning views of Namsan Tower and the Han River.

The hotel location is perfect as its close to the palace and you can find lots of cute cafes in the area too. The night life is amazing as resturants are open till late and you'll see local and tourists enjoy good food and drinks. I usually sleep poorly in hotels, but the bed was very comfortable, so I slept like a baby everyday. The private bathtube was a great experience too. Would recommend staying in the hanok for atleast two nights. It's in a quiet neighborhood, and you can hear the bird sing until evening. Very peaceful indeed.
